McLaren MP4-12c Tune?

Hey guys. I was recently watching top gear and Clarkson was doing a review on the MP4-12c and i remembered i hadnt baught the car yet lol. So i went back and drove around with the recomended car and decided to go ahead and buy it. I have a completly bone stock one that i havent tuned what so ever but i duplicated it so i know have 2 so i have decided to fully mod this one with everything but the Increased Rigity thing. I wanted the same car but just a little more power basically and i tried the stock settings with the maxed power and weight reductions and it didnt work out too well. Heres the tune i have on the fully moded one. Please give me any suggestions, help, or maybe even full tunes! I just really enjoy driving this car but i want some more power sometimes to race with the big boys lol.

this car is my worse nightmare i want it to be fast but never got a set-up that helps this car it suffers from everything you can think of in one shape or form.
 
I understand your pain. In all my years of GT I have NEVER found a car that just screems hopeless as much as the MP4-12C. I spent over 10 hours (where normally a solid tune takes me about 10-15 minutes) trying to get this to be a beast. The base car shows SOOO much potential but just never works right. It suffers from Oversteer and Understeer at the same time - correct one and the other becomes that much worse, the front end plows past the apex at any decent speed, the brakes SUCK A$$, and that is just the start of its issues. I have tried shifting weight balance, suspension setups, dif. settings, staggered tire setups, everything I could think of and nothing worked. I tried the settings from the Tuning Challange on GTPlanet and it still didn't work. In my opinion this vehicle was just modeled poorly by PD because the vehicle in real life is outstanding.

That said if you want some glimmer of hope on your quest down a road that many an accomplished tuner have tried and failed...... I did a few races with a guy one night that had his ripping up the track. He was able to out brake, out corner and out accelerate by Ferrari 458, Lambo Gallardo and give a challange to my fully mod. ZZII. I offered him 10 cars of his choosing for trade & all of the gears for the settings and he declined saying that he enjoys being the only person to have figured it out and would not even do it for hard cash.

Good luck and if you figure it out let me know, my offer still stands for gears and cars to anyone who can figure it out. (If you doubt that I am good on my word to deliver please note I have been in many trade circles without issue and can provide reference)

No one and i mean no one car sort out this car, I have a 90% tune but just cannot get rid of one thing as something else appears! High speed corner understate seems to be the major problem, I think it's the weight distribution but even with ballast it does really go away. I can get it round the nurburgring in 6.26 but I think it should be a sub 6.20, anyon else done better?

I'm working on this car since i bought it. I have a last update that i'm fine tuning now on the ring , i do first at Suzuka online. First lap Offline Nordschleife safely , it's 6'24". Hotlap can go under 6'20" but it don't drive like a dream ... Still some bad mooves , but not too much.
It's not finished but you can try this.


Transmission how to process:
1- Select .reset to default
2- Select final gear at 4.200 .
3- Select top speed at 220 km/h = 137 mph
4- Set each gear at this ratio:
1: 4.040
2: 3.149
3: 2.531
4: 2.100
5: 1.802
6: 1.565
7: 1.366

5-Select final gear again at 2.420
It give a top speed above on the right of 370 kmh = 230 mph

Deceleration: 0/08

i cant get 4.040 the lowest i can get is 4.139 for 1st gear

My car is max power with engine 3 and turbo 3 too. if your is not , it will not match. But no problem go full left with the 1st and full right with 6 and 7 gear. Spread the others respecting the same difference of my ratios. It must be harmonious to see ,well spread on the graphic.

alright i did what you told me and i am in love with this gear set up lol...and after many laps on nurburgring, i think i have figured out the toe...you might think this is a little over kill but trust me, its killed the over and understeer off..

Again you might think its crazy at first but its been working for me.. ive gotten my laps down to about 6.15 by doing it

It's not crazy at all , sometime it need some extreme settings to work, result that count ,if you don't have to care of tire wear it's ok. I'll try it. Now i'm testing minimum springs rates and it's not bad. I think this tune will never end , like an English Yellow bird. :):)
 
I tried all tunes, and i don't think we ever get this car to be a road car killer in its PP class. We can still be tuning this until GT6 and still it be not up to scratch. I think its a PD mega "light bulb" moment to sabourtage this car in GT5 it seems to have inheritant problems and we never get it perfect with tuning.

Not so sure. I will tune this car till GT6 perhaps, because i don't want to give up and also because i have a new update tune to finish and publish tonight. This is a totally new direction, not the same as above, with the help of another lover of this car "Spirithockey61" and his crazy TOE value (not the same but close). The car is fast , easy and very all around , tested on any kind of track, it stay sane and very fast from Suzuka , passing by Indy road and the ring.

Helloooo well I have tried your tune and I can't get it any quiicker? The high speed understeer is still there and the car isnt very supple on the NBR? I am doing something wrong here? I have adjusted my driving style to accommodate the understeer And the sheer speed you arrive at corners (slow in and fast out) but at the point/apex at which I engage the power the car understates off?? Down through the 'foxhole' I cannot get full power all the way through? help!!

Yes , i will publish the new update tonight, after some fine tuning, around 11PM GMT. Still not perfect but better for sure. Nothing close to the one above, totally different .:)👍

Its by far the best tune I've tried for this car so far! But the handing is too neutral. I'm going to tinker with it a bit soon. This car has so much potential. But two major problem's 1; The god awful name :- MP4-12C.......soumds like a printer! lol And the handing (in game).
Which amazes me when you see it around the topgear track in real life
 
I was thinking that PD have made a real mess of this car, it should be the fastest thing on here but it just won't do what you tell it. Do you think that because it's got trick hydraulic suspension and 'brake steer' in real life that PD just couldn't model it properly?
Made we should start with stock items and try one upgrade at a time?
 
I've made some adjustments to the tune above and I'm finding it's getting very close in handling to my 458.....And it's a beast........some more tinkering on the Mc and I'll post the tune
 
Cant wait to see how good we can make this car!!! Im already likeing the new tune just with my crazy toe and Praiano's tune

Done ,it's in my garage, adding more power to go more than 625 PP don't make better lap time. I think it's the limit with this aerodownforce on the ring at least.

It's not the car it's the driver, the MP4-12C is a beast once you drive it with the throttle. You gotta break early so you can turn and power out of the turns. Once you master the McLaren's technique you realize how good it actually is.
 
Nice thought but how slow do you need to arrive ? I still haven't managed to get the perfect tune, prianos is good and I have fiddled a little but still can get the balance
