Members Bikes (Pics, Vids)

As Samberto showed us his lovely Honda Firestorm in This Thread I'd like to see what bikes other members own. If you've got a bike (no matter how big or small :) ) post a pic/vid and what it is. If you think it should be included in TT then please say why. I'll get the ball rolling:

Triumph Daytona 955i '99

Just outside the showroom

Triumph 955i On-Board
this is a vid I, er, found :sly: of a 955i at the Isle Of Man.

I've had the 995i for over a year now, it being the 5th bike I've had. Riding the bike is definately an emotional experience - the noise it makes when you wind it up, the way the single-sided swingarm looks, everything about it oozes character. It's not as powerful as a GSX-R 1000 or R1 (I've ridden quite a few), and it doesn't have the same razor-sharp handling, but it does communicate with the rider well and the noise to me is like nothing else. Makes me smile every time I take it out. :D

Took it to the IOM TT races earlier this year. I think the suspension is a little too stiff for road riding, so it didn't handle the bumpy sections as well as I would've liked, but it still wasn't too shabby and allowed a few slider/road contacts 👍 .

I haven't modified it, apart from the Triumph high level exhaust - to get that lovely triple burble and to show off the back wheel. :)

Should it be in TT?
Heart says yes, head isn't sure. With the Speed Triple and the Sprint ST both being in there it's hard to say. The Daytona is the sportsbike version, the Sprint ST is the tourer bike and the Speed Triple is basically a naked version of the Daytona. In the game the Speed Triple and Daytona would be very similar - there are differences, but no radical differences. The slot might be better used by another bike from a different manufacturer.

Edit: Pic and vid link added.

Interesting thread! 👍

First of all, thank you for posting that vid at the isle of Man, I was searching the other day for anything like that with no sucess. Thats great!

I have had three different bikes, all of them where at the 600cc supersport class. Kawasaki ZX-6r '97 (lovely!), Yamaha R6 '02 (crashed... ouch!) and a Suzuki GSXR '03. Unfortunately, I had to buy a car early this year and sold the Suzuki for the cash :guilty:

Now I am going crazy about those nice looking bikes that are coming out, I can't wait to feel it again...

A pic of my last bike, not in my hands but in my mind :ill:

Hard luck with the crash - been there and it's never good. I've had a Suzuki SV650S before this:

(Cool bike, very easy to ride - kinda miss it.)

Before that it was a couple of Aprilia 2 stroke 125s.

Great idea to make a dedicated thread, Christofire. I’m downloading your IOM adventure as I type! Here’s my early model VTR1000. Purchased this year as the Ks were getting up on my previous VTR1000 of the same colour. The newie is almost mint with only 6000 Ks on the clock. I fitted a Sargent seat this weekend in order to bolster comfort for longer rides. So far it’s doing the trick. I’ll upload ex-racer ZX-9 pics and info this evening.;)

Edit: CF, love the vid…the Trumpy sounds sweet.:dopey:

Excellent thread, Christofire. Nice little IOM vid there too, shame the camera's pointing the wrong way. ;)

I'm currently riding this SV650s which has since had a Micron system fitted. It's a good bike but doesn't really have much of a 'wow' factor for me, although it does sound nice opening it up from low down the rev range.

Before that it was a couple of Aprilia 2 stroke 125s.

My bike ownership so far consists of an Aprilia RS125 and then this SV. Great minds must think alike.

As for whether the SV should appear in TT... I'm not sure. It would be nice to see a mixture of engine types and not just a million IL4's, so in that sense it would be a good addition. Based on my experience of middle-ish capacity bikes I think 4 cylinder bikes probably suit track riding more in terms of the way they produce power as well as their sound, so I think I'd enjoy twin's a little less in-game. There's always the 'getting to pick your bike' factor though so because of that I'd say the SV should be in-game. ;)

I agree that fours are generally more at home on the track. That’s why I have a comfy twin for the road and an unregistered slick-shod four for track duties. Twins feel special on the road, and the tasty sound/mojo at lower revs helps to retain one’s licence and sanity.
The ZX-9R was modified for an Australian racing category. I bought it a couple of years ago for a song- it’s so well sorted with Ohlins shock/WP modified forks, and lightish engine work. It makes a hell of a track bike- though I had a bit of an incident earlier this year, and she’s in the process of some minor repairs.

Lovely Gixer, Andrea –HF-. Care to tell us about it?

Hey sprite, it might be better going with the image shack thumbnail feature if you’re going to post multiple images of large file and dimensional size. It makes the thread unbearable for those on slow connections.

Good thread!

I work for Triumph, and as such I've got a... Triumph.

This is my Daytona 600, which I've taught myself to spray on, the sidepanels are a bit rough but the belly is good.

Other than that it's got a race pipe, some bits and pieces and a unique engine tune.

Just ordered a Daytona 675.

Kurtis: You work for Triumph? Do you want a new friend? ;)

FatAss: If I could back a bike into a corner I would post huge pics too.

Nice one Smalls. Fearless indeed! 👍

Here's our Monster. We've had a couple other Monsters, but this current one is a keeper. Just perfect. Its an '05 S4R. I don't ride a lot, but I get good use out of it. Niki rides it more than I do. Great bike. I'll always own a Monster of some variety.

My friend just got one, an Yamaha R6 (w/ a much better muffler and no gay ass flames) I believe, like this...

As for me... I really love bikes but my MTB is fast enough. Ok Ok... I admit it, I'm a chicken, but an enclosed cockpit with 4 wheels going at the same speed sounds a lot better for some reason. :guity:

BTW, his bike has MORE HP than my friggin car! :scared:

Those are kick ass bikes.

This is the bike I got. Sorry it's not the actual one, but I haven't yet moved into the age of the digital camera. It's an '02 GSX-R750 which I've wanted since I first rode one about 5 years ago, as it was the best handling bike I'd ever ridden. Only the SP1 has beaten it since then, but that was just too uncomfortable.

If ever my mate Nick gets his act together, I should be able to show pics of the pair of us at the 'Ring this summer...

It's not that uncommon - my bike has more hp than my car (130 vs 110). However, torque is a different matter - 74ft-lbs vs 173ft-lbs. Remember that the next time he starts throwing figures at you. :)

VIPFREAK
but but... less weight. I don't even wanna guess the Power to weight on some of those. :scared:
About 3.5lb/hp for my Duck, without me on it. With me on it, that number climbs to 4.0lb/hp. So no, its not slow. And, with over 75lb-ft, it has some decent grunt too. Great bike, I love my Monster.
