I'm getting a PS2 in a month or two and I was wondering if it is possible to load your old PSone memory card on PS2 to put your saves on the new memory card.

Do you mean, can you copy PSone data over to a PS2 card?

Why would you want to? You can still use your old PSone memory card, but only for PSone games you play on the PS2. You need a PS2 mem card for PS2 games to save. I would keep space free for PS2 game saves instead of filling it up with PSone game saves.

Along that topic ... I was told that a USB Zip drive could be used as a storage device. Somehow I don't believe this. Has anyone else had a chance to try out USB devices on the PS2?

Hrm, that would be interesting. I've got need of a USB zipper anyway. I'd also like to know that info, but if I buy one, I'll test that theory.

If i recall the PS2 8 mb cards are not backward compatible with PS1 games, although the console itself is. If you want to save PS1 saves, you have to use a PS1 memory card.
