No, its not that peculiar situation thats going on, about the lack of quantity! :D

Its something even more scary!
When I bought my mem card, way to my house i was reading on the back of it...

wtf! limited saves??!!! what is this..

isnt this thing supposed to last forever?? 39 bucks for a plastic thing is too much and is even more if u are going to spend 39 every ? i dont know!!

I just hope my mem card doesnt die so soon!!!

shame on u Sony!!

Official Sony Playstation 2 memory card.

No 3rd party hardware. :D

What is the exact wording? Basically the card is a non-volatile (doesn't lose data when unpowered) RAM (random access memory) chip. There is a theoretical limit to the number of times it can be written and re-written to.

Chances are, it'll last longer than you (:

It's no coincidence, Sony isn't going to be making large quantities of the Memory cards any more because of the Upcoming PS2 Hard Drive. Saves will go onto the Hard Drive after it is released, and far fewer PS2 memory cards will be needed. Sony is just preparing for the change in advance.

Thats why I like the Xbox with the HDD built in:)

Although 25+ game saves on my PS2 memcard is still impressive, and theres room for more too:)

That is a strategy by Sony I believe. Slack up on making memory cards, release the PS2 hard drive while a demand is there, and many people will immediately buy the hard drive. That should be a topic for a marketing class. Smart move by Sony, but it may make a lot of people ill..... :argue:

It's not a ploy to force people to buy the Hard drive (FFXI is the ploy ;)) When the Hard drive comes out, demand for memory cards is going to fall through the floor as everyone will most likely only need one (Or none.) Sony just doesn't want to get caught with a ton of inventory.
