Is it me or is this race damn near impossible to beat? I've tried all kinds of settings and this and that and still finish last. How do you beat it???

I haven't tried that race yet, but I will add one that may be equally annoying.

The UK Lightweight Track Challenge.

This challenge caused me to literally scream WTF at the screen like a madman.

I'm thoroughly enjoying my time with this game, but cannot wrap my head around the KTM X-Bow R behaving that badly in the wet.
If it does indeed, KTM has failed.
Epically.

I'm sure neither of you have tried to do the RX Lite Regional Ice Racing.
That for me is the most extreme WTF combo from SMS, I've tried all combinations of tyres and I can't get the car to move in a straight line or a fine speed to catch up with the pack.

These remind me a little of the GT challenges. I kind of like that. I think that's what they were trying to do. Winning a race starting dead last is tough.

Isn't the ice driving known to be bugged?

I finished in the top 3 of that championship, some races you're struggling to take a turn at 10 mph others you're lapping the competition, seemingly at random.

Yeah I think it is bugged. They shouldn't get rid of it though IMO. Might be nice driving on it for versatility. What they should do is make whatever appropriate tyres have enough traction to work on it. Strange that the AI cars seem to have no problem with traction as they zoom past though.

It's snow and ice. I dont think there are tires that will allow a GT3 car enough grip on that type of surface. I've never seen it anyway.

Glad I chose the US championship as opposed to the Asia Championship!

Ginetta Proving grounds is incredibly tough, as well.

I've used all tyres available to pick (quit and restart, quit and restart etc) but none gave expected traction if any.

I get the feeling either the AI are not running on a physics model like we are or the AI difficulty is just messed up in some way. I find the latter to definitely be true in some cases but for them to be able to stay planted on those conditions I'm thinking it's more than that and it's as if the AI are not running in the same conditions or on the same physics model that we are. Either way, I think we all can confirm that there is something wrong there.

I beat the Ginetta Proving easy with practice. But that Ice race for Mercedes is nuts. The other cars are gone and controlled and I can't get enough traction to get around corner one without taking the barrier out. And the Ford Escort Challenge is the same way!

And i thought it was just me or my wheel.

Yes its terrible and i skipped my way out of it. Same goes for some of the races where it goes to rain.
