Hi:

I want to inform to the game developers, that for some reason the Mercedes Benz SL55, when turning the car start to shake badly.

I like this car in red, that's why I want the car fix for GT5.

Thanks for your time!:irked:

The effect you describe (which has been discussed a number of times on these forums) is very true to the real SL55, it is not something that should be fixed. Instead, why don't you try tuning the car as it can be tuned out anyway.......

Ok thank's for clarify; So by tunning the car can be fix right ?

Probably spring rates or dampers.

Yes, mainly spring rates and ride height can tone it out. The bouncing effect is caused by the driving aids, which never actually turn off in the real car, and can't control the vehicle properly.

Now a real problem with the SL55 AMG.

Go to the cockpit view and watch the rev counter and where it shifts, it's at 4,000RPM.

But the digital GT5 counter is correct... Odd...

is it due to the SL55 modelled is an AT version? (is there actually an MT version? :dunce:)

not to my knowledge - after all, those blower V8s put out a massive amount of torque and I'm not sure the posers who buy them have the skill to control such torque with a clutch pedal. (apologies to anyone with an sl55 amg - but with the size of your bank account, I think you could probably rise above it.)

As to the first glitch mentioned, I think it's because when the TCS and ABS is turned off in the real car, the ABS isn't really turned off for some reason (why on earth did Mercedes put a 500hp supercharged V8 in a sporty convertble hardtop body think that buyers wouldn't fang it 'round a corner once in a while!?)

Proof of this is in the TopGear test J.Clarkson does with the Brabus version of the SL. When you see it being flung 'round a corner, you can see it twitching and bobbling. Actually, when I saw that test and thought of how the GT4 version doesn't do that, I actually thought about wether the PD boffins would add that little handling detail - and they have - so kudos to PD.

Traction control off in a Mercedes isn't actually off, simple as that.
Mercedes think that one's driving skills does not necessarily increase with the size of one's wallet, a rather true fact it must be said.

Still, it'd be nice if you could actually turn it off without cutting the wires :)

Maybe thats why they (SL55 AMG) don't come with a clutch pedal? :sly:

I'm impress with the great info feedback and also the realism of the car handling that you mention.

The only little drawback is that I notice the mentioned shift point of inside car view of 4000 rpm, I think they can easily correct the small detail.

Also I like when I increased the gear finaldrive to: 3.15.00 is way much better overall especially in the daytona road coarse. But clearly the car needs lots of tunning to be
excellent...

The SL55 really SHAKES that way when turning that's how the car really is.
The RPM only goes to 4000 RPM I think it's because you are on N gear, and you rev. (I have 2 older model Mercedes cars) so when you rev on N it only goes to about 4,000 RMP
But on D, it should go to max RPM when you push the car. Maybe when PD needs to fix the SOUNDS too? What if they tested the car noise on only 4,000 RPM? I dont know.. But yeh.. I think the car has gears because some SL55 models came with Sequential (behing the wheel) shifters.

I am a Mercdes Fan and I am really Piss about the RPM guage! Also I really hope the sound's is real at TOP RPM, I hope the sound is not recorded at only 4k RPM.

Yes, Kaz owns one for every day use. And yes they should really fix the 4k RPM to full RPM.

Exactly...its a powerful car aimed at drivers who buy it to cruise

Well I don't know about raising the noise pitch after 4k RPM, but I do know we should all be happy for the improvements over GT4's attempts to get the noise right. The only vaguely correct noise was when the racing exhaust was installed. That was a rubbish effort and GT5P's noise is much better I think.

The C63 is the only Merc were you completely can turn the traction control off. C63 is one of the only drivers cars Merc ever have made. Merc internal motto "safety before fun" ;-)

Merc. killed 80 people in 1955 at the 24 hours of Le Mans, when one of their cars flew into the crowed. It's no wonder they never let you turn off the aids completely.

Not to mention Le Mans 1999 ;)
Attempting to control all humans is a bit far though, isn't it? I can understand with deciding to try and be safer but going so far as to not let you turn off driving aids without heavily modifying the car is a bit too far (maybe not, depends on your faith in the general driving public). But then again, its not aimed at racing drivers, its aimed at people with silly money.

Not trying to be a smart ass but that above statement is not correct. All of the MB vehicles can have ESP completely de-activated. It's called Dyno-Mode.

I will say for the sound of the SL55 in the game and in real life they are amazingly close.

"Not t rying to be a smart ass but that above statement is not correct. All of the MB vehicles can have ESP completely de-activated. It's calledDyno-Mode."

Too bad none of the car journalists or reviewers have been able to switch it off durring past 10 years. Yes car says "esp off" but it still kicks in faintly if car is too sideways.

in my memory every amg car has allways been automatic or with semiautomatic box. They are not sports cars in true essence. Maybe luxury muscle car would better term? And we all know how muscle cars handle :)

Perhaps it is an issue with AMG not willing to back a warranty on a manual that can't handle the torque?

Merc have always had a problem with how they treat their gearboxes, auto or otherwise. It is my understanding that every Merc automatically engages 2nd gear at standstill and will not use 1st unless it is pushed hard?

When I noticed the SL55 behave this way I thought it was great attention to detail by PD.

It behaved just like the 1999 Mercedes CLR so I thought that's how most Mercedes behave

Watch the first 30 seconds of this video. Notice how bouncy the nose of the Mercedes CLR looks like at certain points. The commentator even talks about it's bounciness at the 29 second mark

That is a race car.. not SL55.. way out of place ;)

That's how real life SL55 needle should be.. and sound.

LINK FOR HQ VERSION

Sounds just like in the game..

So Seems they recorded the noises in correct way.. its only the needle that gets stuck at 4k RPM.

The needle doesn't get stuck at 4k, it's just been calibrated wrong. Easy fix and hopefully done already.

Oh and yes GT5P SL55 does sound quite authentic.

Raitziger:

Yeah..thats a fair point - both of them in fact. I guess we can call AMGs (maybe except for the 190E EVOs (I and II)) point and shoot high end luxury muscle cars. Just don't try shoot when you are changing the point!!
