The Mercury Marquis is a vehicle marketed by Ford's Mercury division from 1967 to 1986. The older models were 2 door coupes and were derived from the Ford LTD while the Marquis turned into a FWD sedan based off the Ford Taurus.

This is the second generation model that was sold from 1969-1978, which recieved a full redesign from the 1959-1968 model. Alongside the 2 door hardtop a 4 door model was also available. Engines ranged from a 350Ci V8 up to a 460Ci V8 and a 3 speed Auto was the only transmission option.

In 1973 the Marquis recieved a slight revision with a boxier look and new energy absorbing "5 MPH" bumpers. In 1975 there was another revesion to make them slightly longer than the 73-74 models.

Approximately 7,850,000 Ford LTD/Mercury Marquis were sold from 1969-1978, making them the second best selling Ford automobile platform after the Ford Model T.

The top engine in the lineup was the 460Ci Big Block 7.4 V8 producing 360HP (in 1974 Trim), which was gradualy reduced to 210HP by 1978.

The car was featured prominently in many US TV Shows & Movies including Hawaii FIVE-0 (Original & 2010 Reboot), The Rockford Files & Starsky & Hutch
