Merlin to be axed

The BBC show Merlin is to be axed after this current series ends in December What are your opinions on this?

I don't know how it works in your country, but here in the US, CBS axed 'The Dukes of Hazzard' while it was still in what would be considered today as a smash hit, the CW also had similar talks of cancelling Smallville since season 6, FOX cancelled two top shows, Family Guy and Futurama, and thanks to Cartoon Network, FOX is now airing Family Guy whereas Comedy Central is airing new episodes of Futurama. Cartoon Network also influenced Japanese Anime by giving American audiences a second 13 episode run of 'The Big O'.

It doesn't sound to me like it's being axed/cancelled/whatever by the network like all of those shows were. It sounds like the people who are making it are intentionally ending it because they want the show to go out while it is on top.

Well that was a really sad ending to the final ever series. Manly tears were shed.
