What metal ballads (preferable a slower tempo) that you love make you remember things and can you connect to them? Do you get emotional when listening to them?
Heres the first few that come to my mind.
1. Iron Maiden - Wasting Love
Heres the one and only ballad for Iron Maiden that talks about its title, Wasting Love. The song gets to me when I hear it, the lyrics speaking of a man who uses women in "that way", and tries to re-enforce the fact that love shouldn't be wasted away. If a few of my friends listened to metal, they should get a hint. It breaks my heart that it's a real issue in society.
2. Skid Row - I Remember You
This Skid Row classic tells about the days of being in mad love and reminiscing over the past. Great song.
3. Vandenburg - Burning Heart
Oh. My. God. Best ballad ever, theres a reason it hit #3 on the charts and held it. So much emotion. Shut up and listen to.
4. Honorable Mentions
Poison - Every Rose Has It's Thorn
Scorpions - Still Loving You, Believe in Love, Send Me an Angel

Black Sabbath - Changes
Black Label Society - Rust (I could put a lot of BLS stuff here)
Overkill - Years of Decay
Pantera - Cemetery Gates
Cathedral - Imprisoned In Flesh
Iced Earth - Watching Over Me (or pretty much anything by IE)
Katatonia - Sleeper

Pretty much any doom would fit in here. Probably have a few dozen more in my TDM collection.

Since Cemetary Gates and Still Loving You was already mentioned, another of my faves was Silent Lucidity by Queensryche. Classic tune in my mind.

Have a good one...

Silent Lucidity I agree. Not sure about Cemetary Gates tho.

See You On the Other Side - Ozzy Osbourne
In This River - Black Label Society
No One Like You - Scorpions
November Rain - G&R
Love Stinks - J. Geils Band
Love Hurts - Nazareth
Lights - Journey

Idk outside a couple of these, I don't really like 80s hair bands.

Its a sub genre of metal, if you want to get technical lol.

I love the song, but it doesn't do anything for me.

Back in the 80's we used to call hair bands "kiddie metal", and that covered lots of the bands out there at the time. :scared:;) Just to give my POV on Cemetary Gates, just like Still Loving You, it has one the most "empassioned" solos out there. Just awesome...

2 more to add: Mama, I'm Coming Home by Ozzy, and Home Sweet Home by the Crue

Have a good one

Nobody mentioned this awesome band : Steelheart - She's Gone.
The lead vocal Miljenko Matijevic, he has the best voice I've ever heard in a rock/metal band.

Still one of the best band ever.

Ozzy Osbourne- So Tired
While the music video is pretty weird, the song is so meaningful.
