I got MGS3 yesterday :D :D

On it for about an hour and a bit.

It brings back memories from MGS2 because X means back and O means forward. I totally forgot about that and for a second i thought there was something wrong with the game because when i tried to start a new game, it kept going back to the main screen :indiff: .

Im gonna have a good couple of goes in Ape Snake because im a bit rusty with the sneaking.

Don't forget to use the d-pad for actual sneaking. When you walk using the analogue stick you still make a lot of noise and will get caught more frequently. Also note that using the d-pad for sneaking will cost more stamina than usual but this is only noticeable on higher difficulty settings. On normal, it won't be too bad.

Ha! today i got to tha Eva bit......R1.....

Hideo Kojima seems to enjoy this type of stuff, did you see all the stuff you could do in MGS2??
i didnt belive this when i heard this.... in the tanker mission with snake you could make him ....m*****bate to those locker pics and then the general would call and tell you off!!!

MGS3 is more fun than MGS2. Different, but I liked it better. At least this time around you don't have bosses going around on roller skates. The bosses are far from realistic, but at least they're not as ridiculous as the ones in MGS2.

Wait... so your saying a fatman that commands a swarm of hornets and uses them as a sheild, bomb and even bullets is less rediculous than a fatman on roller skates!!??

I dont care what anyone says but MGS2 rules!!

I hated Raiden. In the concept art, he looks like he could've been a really bad ass character. Look at the action figures, too! He wields the katana like he knows what he's doing! Then in the game the most common thing he says is "What'd you say??" Clueless loser.

In the words of Snake, "Don't go pointing that thing everywhere, kid."

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

Snake > Raiden :embarrassed: 👍

Snake would make Raiden look like a n00b in combat!!! Sam Fisher would also be easily taken down because he is only a gummy human! :embarrassed:

in an attempt to make the game last longer, i've started it on hard. I think it's working, as i've been going for hours, and have gotten through about 5 areas it seems, i'm just about to meet ocelot for the first time just after you meet Sokolov (i went on a killing rampage and got a bit further than i really am)

And at the moment, if i get seen, it really is deadly, although i've managed to find a good place under the building to hide now so alert's don't guarantee death anymore.

sometimes when i go to speak to major 0 he says stuff like it will be useful to me if i blow up the building im next to like a small building that stores food or ammunation. He says stuff like ''if you blow their building up they will be low on supplies and wont want to waste their bullets on you'' Thats not exactly what he says but you get the pic..
Can you actually blow them up?? if you can, could someone please tell me how because i dont...

I just beat The End. What a contest!!! THE best fight ive had in MGS3 and i dont think anything is going to top that!!
Cant wait to try it again in Hard or even Extreme.

It's one of the best boss fights in any game ever. Did you snipe him or did you tranq him, if you snaek up behind him you can hold him up and you can get his sniper rifle when you beat him.

live4speed
you can hold him up and you can get his sniper rifle when you beat him.

Bit late now!

I sniped his head when i beat him but the first time i hit him was whan i snuck behind him and shot him with my .45, i got a couple of good shots in but then he threw a stun gernade and ran. As i was running around trying to make him shoot at me i found the building with the sniper in.

I got caught in that trap that pulls you up from the legs once, that was cool.
The only thing im upset about is that i only needed to hit him with my sniper once before he died and thats when i was REALLY getting into it :indiff:

Hiya! :D: O  Meow! (='.'=)

I didnt like fighting The End! I find him quite frustrating to find and shoot him. It took me numerous tries to kill him until I got very lucky this game.

I keep on catching him running by me! 👍 Kept on shooting him with the Socom until the old man finally die. :embarrassed:

It would be funny if someone fell asleep fighting the end. The sorrow was just plain weird. Took me an hour before I ended up *cheating* haha.

Does doing pull-ups increase your grip level?(or decrease it's rate of decline i suppose, as the bar starts the same length as your stamina)?
Are there any other self improvement things implemented? Apparently snake can get used to the taste of initially unpleasant foods, so do they then yield a greater stamina increase if he likes the taste?

(Just executed two guard dogs with a single shot each from my AK-47. Sooooo evil, but during this, i noticed one of the great things about MGS that's rarely mentioned. Prior to shooting the second, moving, dog, i was pressing down square gently to raise the gun, holding down R1 to aim, L1 to look through the sight, R2 and L2 to 'go on tiptoes', and finally using the left stick to aim at it's head. All without thinking. Ahhh, what controls!)

Thanks

I was thinking about that. Im not sure either and i dont want to waste time doing 100's of pull ups just to find out :indiff:

I don't think it does. Stamina is drained entirely based on your actions and what you are carrying. If you go to "backpack" in the menu, it'll show how much weight you are carrying (in kilograms, another reason for us to abolish the "imperial" set of measurements). The more weight, the more stamina is drained obviously. Also, if you're not wearing any camo (i.e. wearing the "naked" camoflouge) your stamina drains faster. But if you call Sigint...I'll just say it's freakin' hilarious!!

As far as blowing up buildings, look for small sheds with food or radio equipment or guns and ammo that you can't take. Then, take a pack of TNT, place it inside and run. Now, if you WANTED, you could take out the guards in the area so they won't hear the blast. Of course, if you just went into an armory, you'll want to try out your new gun! Or you could use more of the TNT on the guards! lol Whatever you want to do after you blow the joint, do it as long as you don't get killed!

The End is the second greatest boss fight in the game. The Boss is the greatest *ahem* "boss" fight in the game. lol One time the song was ending just as I defeated her....I thought I was about to get a game over when the screen went dark! Then I remembered--oh, yeah! Cut scene!

and I STILL almost cry when I see the ending sequence.

Yeah, put dynamite in the food or weapons shack and it'll be ruined. At a certain point there's also a helicopter which you can blow up. :D

I dunno whether that means you won't run into it anymore later. Haven't been that far into the game yet after blowing it to smithereens.

I think the fight with boss was only great because of the location it was in. As an actual boss I was most impressed with the Fear. Really creepy. The first time I ended up fighting him I didn't find the thermal goggles yet, that made him quite the challenge. I didn't find out about his weaknesses yet so it was quite annoying to beat him.

Yeah, if you blow the helicopter there on the ground, you wont have any flying over you at another point in the game. But, you will have men in fly platforms, instead.

A lot of your questions, fellas, have been already answered. I suspect you don't want to read the entire thread for fear of having something spoiled for you, so, I'll do the best I can.

You can make Snake throw up if he get's sick from eating poisined food. In the viewer screen, spin Snake around 12 to 14 times, then go back to your game. In a few seconds, he'll throw up.

It's funny when you throw up on Eva when she's knocked out. Shoot a tranq dart in her first. You can a have a lot of fun with her when she's tranqed. You can even see her titties in the viewer screen and if you spin her around, or up and down, really fast, her tittes bounce around. Fun stuff!

Cannot increase Snake's stamina other than progressing in the game. His life and stamina guage go up with the more bosses you face.

Blowing up food locker will make guards weak an hungry. Blowing up armory sheds make them run out of ammo.

You can bring down helicopters down by shooting the pilot in the head once with the sniper rifle. Their heads slump forward, and their body droops. Then, the helicopter spins out of control and crashes. It's really awesome to see. But, if you're going for zero kills, you can't do it.

Killing people makes the Sorrow boss fight harder.

Well...I KNOW why Raiden was the character, but that doesn't change the fact I hated him.

And that essay was rediculously long. Especially to get to the point you were trying to get at, smellysocks. Still, an interesting read, but damn was it lengthy!

Were you talking about Solid Lifters last post?? I thought it was quite useful 👍
Lots of stuff to do with Eva :D
Anyway i didnt really have a problem with Raiden in MGS2. I dont know why though? Maybe if i play it now, he might get on my nerves because im used t snake now. I was a bit dissapointed with MGS2 where you could only play with Snake at the start.

Also in MGS2 Liquid, Solidus and Solid all were clones of The Big Boss. When i first heard of MGS3 i thought yea were gonna play using Big Boss.
Soz if this seems like a stupid question but im a bit confused now theres a woman called The Boss. Which are Liquid, Solidus and Solid Snake clones of??

Solid Lifters

Yea your right for me anyway, i dont want to pick up any boss strategies until i have a go myself or get stuck and also i dont want to find out storylines etc..
Glad you understand 👍

I got MGS3 Christmas last year. I did not want to turn my PS2 off. It was so fun. But, after I beat it it got kinda boring.

Where do you get the camera from??
I heard you can do some pretty neat things with Eva using the camera.

........Major Raikov
Snake spoke to Eva and asked why he was a Major and not a Colonel and she said Snake was slow and then she went.
So why is he a Major in a Colonel's uniform??

He was talking about a post before that with a link to a site with just too much info on it that I couldn't be arsed reading.

The Boss and Big Boss are two different people, Solid snake and liquid snake are both genetic clones of Big Boss, not The Boss.

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

Thats right! :embarrassed: 👍

Snake is called "Big Boss" after the event of MGS3. Then the Les Miserables project is done to get Liquid and Solid Snake.

It is also wise to play the original MGS1 or the Twin Snakes to get more into the detail of the twin's project! :embarrassed: 👍

Solidus Snake from MGS2 is apparently a clone, too. But I question this--why does he seem so much older if he is a clone and therefore the same age as both Solid and Liquid Snake?

I agree with playing the original MGS game, though Twin Snakes is much better insofar as gameplay. In the original MGS game, the INSTANT you are spotted, the guards go into Alert mode which is very unrealistic contrasted to Twin Snakes where they have to radio for backup first and then enter Alert mode. However I do have the problem with magically appearing guards in the latter. And first-person shooting is difficult with the "z" button.

He's a clone, but I don't think he's one of the twins. Solid snake and Liquid snake were both created at the same time, my gues is that Solidus was created earlier in a different experiment.

But the clones were all made at the same time, no? And if he were so special, why does he live and die in only one game? The Genome Soldiers were "twins", too, just not "snakes".

Much to discuss about the series, which is why it is so damn great! Video game design at its finest! Though there are parts where the voice-acting seems...odd due to the fact that it's dubbed from the Japanese animations for mouths, etc.

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

One of the things I want to know about these Snakes is what is suppose to be different about them genetically. I am not talking about physical appearance, but inside them.

Toward the end of MGS1, Liquid mentions that he is the inferior one while Snake gets all the dominant genes from Big Boss.

Then after the credit rolls. You hear Ocelot say that Solid Snake, the INFERIOR one kills Liquid. Then he mentions that no one can stop "you" because you are well-rounded(I am very sure he is talking to Solidus Snake). :embarrassed:

So what is all this inferior, dominant and well-rounded ones? :odd: I want that to be explained on how they were all made in certain ways. :embarrassed: 👍

Hey guys i found a wicked radio frequency. When your at the bit with Raikov in the east section theres a door that wont open at the bottom that contains the Scorpion. So i called Eva and she said i should ask someone nearby so i got this guard that was patrolling next to the door and interrogated him and he said 149.53. I put it in the radio but the door wouldnt open :indiff: BUT it played some jazz music and then my stamina shot up :) .
Ive tried this a few times now and everytime i call it my stamina goes to max!! So now i dont even have to catch any food or anything, just call the frequency whenever im tired!!
Have a go its 149.53.

EDIT: Also is Major Raikov a woman?? because he/she makes a werid noise when confused and also Volgin found out my disguise by checking down below. That would kinda explain what Eva said to me earlier....
Slick Rick
Snake spoke to Eva and asked why he was a Major and not a Colonel and she said Snake was slow and to think about it and then she went.
So why is he a Major in a Colonel's uniform??
