Microsoft's Phil Spencer has taken a cheeky pop at the repeated delays to the release of PS3 exclusive Gran Turismo 5.

As you'd expect, the Microsoft Game Studios boss is a big fan of Xbox 360's rival racing series. "I think Forza continues to define the racing genre," he told Eurogamer earlier this week.

"Especially from first-parties, given that it seems to be the only one that's shipped." Ooh burn. Chinese rather than third-degree though probably.

"It's the highest-reviewed racing game this generation," Spencer continued. "And it continues to include the community... I think we continue to push, as first-party, this line between shrink-wrapped games, Live and that social community experience."

For more from Spencer read the full interview, in which he uses the word "experience" 29 times.

Taken from here.

You see guys... this is the problem. Sony will just shut up, and this M$ people will say a lot more things, like trolls :irked:

Sony has to respond to this offenses! but not with screenshots at 8MP+. You know what I mean :embarrassed:

GT3 had far better reviews than forza 3, although it is older

Also, inside everyone at Microsoft are terrified about what GT5 is going to do to thier Forza and X360 sales!!!

Microsoft's Phil Spencer is just a troll , you se how far it goes ? :)
GT5 is the one game that can make PS3 the best selling console of this gen... And M$ knows it.

Oh no someone made a remark about GT5!!!

Honestly? This place doesn't need another "Gran Turismo members rejoice!" thread.

It's just the difference between the understated Japanese way of doing business and the very boastful American way. I don't see that Sony need to get caught up playing him at his own game. As a technical achievement, GT5 is on another level to Forza 3.

I'm sure this guy isn't a complete idiot and knows that GT5 sales will dwarf those of Forza 3. Ultimately for people like him, it isn't about producing the best game, it's about having titles that generate good sales, good profit and are released frequently. All the time he can get a soundbite in the press off the back of GT5's publicity/delay it's all good for him and the cause he is serving.

When we are able to finally stand back and compare GT5 to Forza 3 under the category of "driving simulator" there will be only one winner. The development time is of course part of the reason, and part of the reason that Turn10 will never take 6 years to make a single game is becasue they don't have the freedom and open brief that PD have been afforded due to their previous successes.

Agree with everything you said, well written.

Sony are Japanese. One of the primary religions in Japan is Buddhism. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't one of the teachings of Buddhism to have respect for others? Plus, there's that old Japanese culture of politeness. So, stereotypical Japanese politeness is probably why they haven't taken digs at Microsoft.

He's right about the inclusion of the community, though. GT seems to be 80/20 of PD/Fans, while I'd say Forza is about 70/30 maybe 65/35.

It seems that on every forum where they have a 'games' section people are having a dig at Sony/PD for the delayed release of GT5 so another person//company having a dig is just the norm.

Shame really.

Wow, does he? Tch! It's almost like he's paid to deliberately misrepresent other people's products and ignore the shortcomings of his employer's products in order to promote them somehow.
