most of my favourite cars, ie the ones i drive most often, are completely stock or mildly tunned/modded. the 900 and 1000 hp supra's and skyline's and viper's just dont get driven as much. just wondering if anyone else is like this or is it all about the lap times? that said my F1 car gets a pretty good workout sometimes too :)

also thought i'd add that this is a awesome site, and i look forward to getting some usefull info.

I've started tuning my cars in a mild way too. To me, it seems a little more fun that way. I'm travelling slower, so I've got to tune the suspension to adapt to the course and take full advantage of what power the car has. Basically, if the car is too powerful for S3 tires(I don't use TCS), then it's too strong.

A friend and I started racing on the 'Ring like this, and it's very competitive. He's a better driver than I am, and I am the better tuner, so it's interesting seeing the different strategies we use. Early on, my friend stole some of my settings, so I couldn't beat him for a while. However, I learned a few more things and changed my tuning philosophy. Now I have the edge because I figured out a nice little transmission 'trick' to use that gives me better acceleration and a higher top speed.

yeah, one of my mates and me have some huge battles around there :) one of the main reasons i like using the cars like this is to keep it a little more realistic in terms of what i would do if i owned them for real. a 600 hp WRX might be alot of fun, and i'm sure it would lap pretty fast, but its not something i would ever have in my real life garage. also i think sometimes the cars can feel more balanced when there are only slight increased in power etc... i'm never going to set a lap record in them or anything, but i enjoy the racing more.
i dont use the tc either :)

Mildly modded are better. say, 200-500bhp is enough for most races. more than that is just overkill.

This is my kinda thread....ya the cars that get most used is my milder tuned cars, I personally think it gives you alittle advantage over others as far as driving skill and tuner skill....The cars that I most use have the the whp range from 200hp to 500hp. Anything over that ill keep for a special time. And as for drifting my horse power range is from 300hp to 500hp or better. I also like to mildy tune the suspection and the weight of the car to....

Most of my cars only get a oil change, then stage 1 lightweight and I feel it is enough for me :dopey: I usually win most races like this, and only a small portion of the races require more tuning, like adding a turbo or a exhaust.

My only exception is the Daihatsu Copen, which has 62 hp stock, I love that car :dopey: so I have it fully tuned, stage 3 turbo, racing chip, exhaust, racing brakes, stage 2 lightweight, even Nitrous!!! (I feel that 100hp for 5k is a very nice deal especially when the car only has 125hp max.

PS: A nice tip for Copen fans out there, NEVER ever use the top rev range of the engine. from 7k-9k, the engine produces less horsepower. I've tested this out, shifting at 7.5k produces faster 0-100kmh time then shifting at 9k(redline). So I installed the stage 3 turbo to compensate for that, now it produces more power from 7k -9k. 👍 I just noticed that I went wayyyy off-topic :P

I prefer to tune up my cars in a "realistic" way. There's no need for 1000hp rides when the same car with half the power but a good setting is twice as fast.

(whoa, kind of a creepy phrase)

The only cars that I completely maxed out in HP-status are the Challenger, and ONE (I have 3 or ) of my Z33s (350Z and Fairlady).

The 80% of my garage as around 350/450hp at max.

Edit: Ooops. Sorry guys, I made a mistake in clicking quote instead of edit. I apologyze.

thanks for all the replys, its good to know its not just me :) i do have alot of fully tuned cars, if i like a car i'll usually have one stock or lightly tuned and the other with as much hp etc... as it can have. the only problem is i have heaps of cars i never drive so today i am going to start selling them.

Yup, it's a "problem" I have myself too... but most of all, I have lots of "concepts" that are valued zero money when you sell 'em.

I have some midly tuned cars like a lot of people. I also have my fully tuned Dodge Charger 440R/T, and my Lotus Carlton. Back to the topic, a Jaguar S Type R midly tuned is very good, as are some cars if you just give them all the transmission parts, and do the Tranny Trick. The XJ220 is a good example.

I try keep my FF cars HP stock Fr cars 300 to 400hp range and 4wd in the 450hp or less:sly: ..I hate to much power makes the car uncontrollable:yuck:
