Out of curiosity, I created a Creative world by using the Tutorial world's seed. It was all to find out that the Tutorial World was massively customized. Many of the same landscape elements were present in my play of the Tutorial world, just without many of the structures that occupied it. Most notable were the big castle and all kinds of other places.

There's a breeding limit. I got a bit crazy again trying to breed animals in various little villages I set up, so I ended up getting a message saying the breeding limit has been reached and that the animal can't enter Love Mode when I tried to offer a sheep some Wheat. I don't know... do I have to kill off some animals to try to maybe breed some new animals? In one of the villages I created, wolves sometimes try to kill off some of the animals in some of the fences. One wolf eventually succeeded killing off every sheep in one of the fences.

Minecraft is still a cool game. Even the console version is just as feature-packed and as fun as the PC version. By the way... I still haven't even attempted to get the PC version of Minecraft working. So rather than work on the PC version, I'll stick with the PS3 version of Minecraft. Better than not playing this game at all.

So... Fiero gave me the gift of flight yesterday morning to help with my project. Which was a great thing to have. However I'm now getting the message "Kicked for flying (or related)". Can someone with the powers please remove that ability so I can log back on the server?? lol

Thanks to your donation you are now a sponsor. You can fly and have many other new abilities.

:)

Glad to see there are a few other PS3 Minecraftians here. Been playing it since just before Christmas.

First world put me in a jungle biome. Plentiful wood, and a lava flow and a beach nearby. Cleared most of the jungle around as my house grew. After a bit, I had a tower.

Created a small farm next to it as well as a mine entrance. Did a bit of exploring further into the map, eventually came across a forest biome. Haven't explored that any more yet as I started turning the tower into a bridge, and then a tower sprouting out of the sea...

photo2.jpg

(Laying the foundations underwater proved interesting...)

...Which I then connected to yet another tower on the opposite shore. They're functionally pretty useless - the middle one is just a room, the far one just a staircase.

Anyway, haven't played that game for a bit as I found an ace mountain seed online. Dropped me in a snow biome at first where I built a small hobbit-style hut on top of a hill full of caves. Built another small farm, a pig and sheep farm, and gathered some resources to go exploring in the proper mountain bit of the map. Since then I've mined several rooms into the mountain, and dug a mine down to the base layer.

Ores aplenty down there - found healthy amounts of gold, a smattering of diamonds, and huge amounts of redstone and coal. I'm mining in two-block-wide strips away from my staircase to make it as efficient as possible. No underground caverns yet, but I did find an abandoned mineshaft full of spiders and skeletons.

The only real git about the PS3 version is that there's no easy way to screencap. So the phone shots above will have to do. Will try and get some of my current game, since those above are from the one I no longer play.

I've been thinking about getting this, seems like fun, but I'm wondering what to get it on. My PC runs Windows 8 (well, 8.1 now because apparently MS gets testy if you don't update) and is really a base model, put the ps3 only has about 5-8 MB left in freespace. Recommendations?

Ones other than "get a bigger hard drive"?

PC

Because more up-to-date, mods, custom servers, plugins, map downloads, texture packs aka ressource packs, skins, better text chat, more options, many other things...

But what are your specs? Not that you get disappointed just because you're using a 15 years old laptop...

Toshiba Satellite C855D
Windows 8.1
4GB RAM (3.5 usable)
AMD E-300 Processor with Raedon Graphics (1.3 GHz)
400 GB of space to work with
Bought June 8, 2013 after killing a VAIO by tinkering with settings while running Norton. Pro Tip: DON'T DO IT!

The aforementioned hobbit-style hill house and new mountain complex I've been working on.

Both need a bit of a creative touch to them to make them look less like rocks surrounded by soil, but both serve a purpose.

Some nice places you've made. Do you ever use creative mode @homeforsummer?
Thanks. Not really no, I like the challenge of having to find stuff as well as just creating, though I have considered using the same seed I'm currently playing to start a creative mode and maybe build a more comprehensive version of the mountain town I'm currently building. Survival mode means I don't get to spend much time refining my buildings.

I started a survival world using the seed 'Borderlands 2' and was going through so many resources I switched it to creative. I'm trying to get pics of a mega-city that I'm taking part in (it was mostly done when I got there) as well as some from my other projects. Now that my camera is charged it should be easier!

That's a really cool looking house. It sure beats my Giant Red Mushroom house and Birch Wood house. I really should start thinking about making a modern style house, since I love modern design.

If anyone wants to add me to play online, feel free. Multiplayer is much more fun than making things like this on my own and not having anyone to show in real-time. I'll post links whenever youtube decides to finish uploading.

Here's the one I call Hell's Compound, the pics should explain why:

This is the Arid Badlands (used seed 'Borderlands 2') and made a mountaintop castle. Not finished, but I made 90% of it in survival mode, including the tower.
I switched to creative when I got tired of taking stones from inside the castle to make the top

Resources haven't proven too much of an issue for me so far. There's an abundance of ores near the base layer I've been collecting, and I've got two double chests virtually full of cobblestone so that's not really an issue either! If I start going too fancy I might find wood starts to become a problem - there's a reasonable amount nearby but I don't want to just hack down an entire forest.

Found loads of lava while mining too, so some obsidian and a nether portal may be next on the to-do list.

Pretty long post kind of warning :P

I am exploring my 1.7 survival world, I'm looking for those elusive Biomes, like the Mesa (Bryce) biome, the Roofed Forest, the Mega Taiga and the Mushroom Island. it is a really big mistake of mine that I didn't bring any obsidian to my journey so I can travel to these places faster through the nether, as I have almost three stacks of it, and I can't just simply go there and grab it, because right now I'm more than 5500 blocks away from my house... :ouch:

This is what I've found so far:

A group of horses in an island in the middle of a deep ocean, I might go and tame some of them, but they're not of my favorite color :P

Four air bubbles, just before I hit the coast, and there are some Ice Plains there, that was a good sign, because of my search of those rare biomes

2014-02-02_13.58.58.png
I've found the Ice plains Spikes biome, and not only that, what you in the photo, is a 49 block tall spike, I didn't knew those things could be that tall at all, then, whe I was closing it, I heard alot of zombies underground, I inmediately tought that it could be a Zombie Spawner just below that Spike, which is could be unbelievable, it wasn't that, but I found something as cool as that.

2014-02-02_14.01.52.png
A spike that was 11 blocks underground, I've explored that cave it was in, but I couldn't find anything else that a few hostile mobs, unfortunately :indiff:

2014-02-02_14.07.43.png
This was supposedly the last photo of that big spike...

2014-02-02_14.07.48.png
...and that skeleton shot me right after I took the screenshot :dopey:

2014-02-02_14.09.04.png
After realizing that there was not only one skeleton, but a horde of hostile mobs trying to attack me, I escaped to a forest (not a good idea either), after escaping, I looked back to where the spike is, and I realized I could still see it!

This screenshot looks better that the other screenshot, in my opinion :D:tup:

2014-02-02_12.25.06.png

And this last photo is as you may think, my house :)

And just besides the nether warth, the entrance of my self-made mine, I've got a lot of diamonds and emeralds there, thankfully, enough to make that thing over there and have some spare emerald and diamond blocks :D, I've spent a lot of time mining, if you wonder, so that adventure I'm doing is like a vacation of what I do almost all the time.

Right now I'm heading east, in the hope of finding warmer biomes, because I want to find the ultra rare Mesa (Bryce) biome, actually this is the main point of what I doing, anything else I find is sub-zero cool :D

Depends on what kind of experience you are wanting. If you want everything that Minecraft has to offer, then PC is
the way to go. Or if you are more interested in a simple way to play, PS3 is also a great choice. With the PS3 version
the UI is simplified for use with a controller, so it's easy to build/craft and move about. The map size may not be infinite,
but there is plenty of space to explore. Multiplayer is limited to people on your friends list, so unless your friends pick
up the game, your worlds might be kind of lonely.

I've enjoyed playing both Pocket Edition and MC on Xbox, regardless of map size I was able to build whatever I wanted.
Fought of Creepers and Zombies. Grew crops, collected mobs for farms. Both versions have come along way, and I'd recommend either to anyone looking to get started.

I finally made the jump to PC just so I can see what the fuss is all about. I'm playing it on my laptop running windows 8.1
it's no where near top of the line laptop, but it runs it just fine. The online community is HUGE. And as with anything online your experience may vary. The server that DQuan is hosting has been great, everyone is friendly and helpful.
Which is good, since I'm still learning how to play Minecraft on the PC. Not everything works the same way between the console and PC versions, so there have been times where I know what item I need, but the way i'm used to collecting or crafting is different. But with the PC version you do get a feeling of anything is possible.

Last few days I've had the same problem on DQ's server. All chests and items therein, doors, leaves, and now water
are failing to load. For the last two days I've been stuck in a tree. However I did manage to free myself and take a few snapshots of whats happening.

So I have some questions about the PS3 version of MC I hope some kind person can answer.

Having played the PC version off and on for well over a year, I've been trying to get a long distance friend into it but (and no disrespect to DQuan here) I wanted us to share the same world but not with anyone else, just true survival mode but co-op.

Setting up a server seems kinda fiddly to me, my PC can probably support it but my friend has a Mac and she won't be able to log in to our shared world when I can't, unless I leave my computer on all hours which I don't want to do.

So I was wondering, with the PS3 version, the world being so much smaller and all, can you create a world to share with just one friend, and this is hosted remotely, by Sony or Mojang or whoever? I would love for us to be able to start in survival mode at the same time, but either of us can log in at any time, including separately. I've checked a few reviews of the PS3 version but the multiplayer setup isn't made very clear.

Thanks in advance :)

The only way to have a server running for the PS3 version (even 360 for that matter) is to have someone with a PS3 set up a game and host it. Then you have to be friends with that person, then you and your friend could join the game at anytime. Only problem is the person hosting the game will have to leave their PS3 on at all times for you to be able to connect an play.
Hope this helps you out 👍.

Thanks it does, I'd kinda hoped the world was hosted remotely but that's not so bad, certainly seems easier to set up than the PC version, for my level of techyness anyway :)

Sorry another question, I played the Xbox demo a while back and didn't like how it already set out a bench, chest and some other resources from the start. Is there a way to disable this in the PS3 version? Part of the appeal of MC for me is starting with nothing.

I don't know if its different on PS3/360 but on PC there is an option to give a bonus chest when you start. So maybe be worth looking around the options to see if it can be turned off. You could always collect the stuff up and drop it far away from you eventually it will disappear.

PS3/Xbox version is the same as PC version 1.2.3. So while there are some "features" that are in later versions that are currently in there is no real option of it, except maybe in the settings.

when creating a world go to 'More Options' and uncheck the bonus chest option
