What you do is, you have the launcher open. On the bottom left corner there is New Profile. Click that and you should be able to select ANY version of Minecraft. You can check if you want Beta versions or even Alpha. Then, where it says Use Version, you should be able to select Minecraft 1.2.5 from the drop down list. Last thing to do is save the profile to whatever name you want to call it.

Once the profile has been saved, you should be able to access the folder from your computer. For example, I saved a 1.6.4 profile for mods. I found the folder and installed Forge in it. After you run the version with Forge, it should rename the profile Minecraft 1.6.4Forge... Worked with me.

I know how to mod, I just didn't know the new launcher supported pre-launcher versions. :) Now I can play the first version of MC too! :D

Is it out for PS3 yet?

Its truly an amazing update for console owners. Greatly improves the game. I just hope the list I posted above is the proper list. A little confusion out there of which list to post.

Do non-loaded chunks include the new ores? :(

We have a great PS3 world going, but we want Taters and Emerals ect
I don't think it does but I am not sure. We decided to just start another new world. My group of friends has at least 15 different worlds but its always fun to star all over again in a new world. :D

Wait, I just realized.

You can get 'taters through killing zombies, at least on PC, and you can get emeralds by trading! :D

Quartz is sold by villagers I think, too. :D

Gotta say, that's a lot of content for a measly ~40Mb, Although I'm not too fond of the 2 new texture packs here on the ps3 version.

I traded 16 wheat for 1 emerald last night. I really like the ability to trade with villagers. This game now feels like Skyrim mixed with Fallout 3. So glad we can combine worn out weapons and armor to make better weapons and armor. Saves a lot of resources and inventory space. Such an amazing update for the consoles. I am still looking for potatoes and carrots. Cant wait to add those to my jungle tree house farm. :)

After learning of the updates to the console version of Minecraft, it was time for me to test drive some of the new features. Suffice to say, I was quite impressed. All I did was mostly drop in certain items into my Creative world. I even tried to chat with the Villagers. I saw all they were offering. I didn't broker any trades, but it was cool to have Villagers be more than just a sign of life in villages created and/or generated.

I also went ahead and sampled the extra texture packs. I prefer the original Minecraft texture pack, but I really liked the City Texture Pack. I wasn't pleased with the Plastic Texture Pack, though. The original textures are just fine for me. The different texture packs have to be purchased if you want to continue using them.

I haven't been playing Minecraft in a while. Not because of disinterest, but mostly because of my TV. My old TV basically lost a bit of its color. Minecraft is a game with many bright colors. Sadly, the green colors sort of appear like very dark blue colors. So because of this, I haven't done too playing as I used to. Only other alternative is to play console Minecraft while using my USB capture device.

I am still plenty impressed with console Minecraft. These edits just make it better.

Not experienced any of the new bits yet, as I've mainly been carrying on with an existing game. I know size-wise the console games are a fraction of the PC version, but it amazes me how much I've left unexplored on the map. And beneath it, for that matter.

I'm liking the new update. 👍

Probably gonna start a new Survival world since the one I'm in now not only has no villages but no emeralds/nether quartz.

@nascarfan1400 The texture packs for Playstation 3 are $0.99. :)

I can't remember whether this has been asked before, but can a survival world started by one person be worked on by another on a different console?

For example, if two people play an online game, can the one or the other player dip in and play it independently if both aren't online?

I'm just thinking of ways to expand my use of the game a little - I'd like to play online, but given the different timezones most of us play in it isn't always easy finding a time when more than one person is online. That, and I'm quite busy with work so only tend to play for an hour or so at a time, whenever I can squeeze it in.

But it'd be useful/interesting if two players could add to the same world without both of them necessarily being online at the same time.

Nope the host must be online for anyone else to join,

Arses. That's a shame.

Okay, next question: Is it possible to turn an existing world you're working on into an online-able game, or do you have to start one from scratch? I've got three saved games at the moment - can any of those be made online, so others can join me?

But it makes sense. If someone's being a griefer you just have the host leave.

Not sure on that

Yes, if you've started an offline world, then all you have to do is go to "More Options" and check "Online Game." :)

Awesome, thank you. I'll probably make a few of my worlds online then. Any GTPers who want to add me on the off-chance they catch me online, my PSN is the same as my username here.

I don't have a mic though so if you do ever catch me online, feel free to do basically whatever you want as long as it doesn't involve pushing me into lava

Heh, sorry. As I put a few posts back, getting the PS3 version is the best way of getting me away from the computer I spent 12 hours a day on already...
