Is it just me or do these two cars have the same body styles? (Mitsubishi Lancer 2003 and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII)

Yes, the name should give you something of a clue as to the shared heritage.

Well I was wondering about you. :D

I've seen more Lancer evolutions that bloomin bog standard Lancers, possibly because Mitsubishi isn't such a popular brand over here. The only real common Mitsu is the shogun or Pajero and maybe the charisma.

thats a neat new avatar race idiot. i would love to experience the rs200 in person. sweet looking, light as hell, cosworth turbo'd homologation special. it was one, wasnt it? I will go check my little car encyclopedia later, im such a nerd.........

The Carisma (it's a Japanese car, you you have to look for the missing letters!) is basically a Lancer also. If you look very hard at an Evo V or VI, you can see the Carisma bodywork in there somewhere.

When Mitsubishi were running Makinen and Burns, they were down as driving a Lancer and a Carisma, although we all knew it was the same car.

It also killed a load of spectators, which helped put a stop to the insane group B in the WRC.

Uh don't mind me it's Monday and i'm not in the best of moods.

Edit:Yeah I remember when Mitsu were running 2 lancers, except one of them was badged a charisma.

No need for jealousy...

I've seen a couple, but never been in one, and certainly never driven one.

Well, since the Evo VII is expensive, I was thinking of buying myself a Lancer 2K3 instead. At least I can take the car to a body shop so I could make it look like an Evo VII... :)

Yeah, but unfortunately it won't FEEL like an Evo VII. If the Subaru range is anything to go by, the slower ones feel like a duvet. The controls are vague and there are no real responses to it. This, of course, was when I drove Impreza GLs as courtesy cars.

Or period, if your american.

I thought some older base Imprezas didn't have a boxer or awd.

Although I don't have a farkin bogun clue what i'm going on aboot.

It may not feel like an Evo 7 but, at least, I still have a taste for FF cars... 4WDs are fast but when it comes to cornering, it is advisable to get yourself an FF, FR or MR car... And while I'm driving, I'm gonna play some Initial D songs...

Ugh, but it might just be a really crappy handling FF car. Why not just get something that is meant to be what it actualy is, instead of trying to make an average sedan look like a sporty 4wd WRC bred car.

Why not get an mitsu FTO, or eclipse?

Clearly!

All Subarus have boxer (or "horizontally opposed") engines. Almost all of them are four wheel drive, although there are base-model Imprezas with FWD only. Only the models designated "Turbo", "STI" or "WRX" are turbocharged.

I thought you could get a FF impreza, although I doubt many would. Although I think there are more Turbo's, WRX and Sti's than standard imprezas, well in europe anyway.

I keep seeing these Impreza P1's all the time.
Although it might be the same guy laughing at me. :odd:

When the first Impreza was released in 1993, it was FWD standard, and AWD optional. The Impreza was designed to compete with Honda's Civic and Toyota's Corolla.

When, after three years, they made absolutely no headway, they hired Judge Reinhold for advertising and changed the Impreza -- and all Subaru's -- to AWD standard. I'm guessing this was because of their WRC success...not that anyone in the US knew about that at the time.

I rarely see FTOs here in the Middle East... And the only affordable Eclipse is the one with retractable headlights... I really want the Lancer 2K3... It's handsome... Even though it's not a 4WD...
