The Mitsubishi 360 was a 2 door light truck introduced by Mitsubishi in 1961. The truck was designed for the Kei car class and was powered by an air-cooled 360cc 16HP with a 50MPH top speed. Mitsubishi also created a passenger version, called the Minica, with the truck being produced alongside it.
The truck was designed to compete against the Subaru 360, Daihatsu Fellow Max and Suzuki Fronte in the late 60's and the unexpected success of the 360 led them to cease production of 3-wheeled vehicles. Originally available as a panel van, with a pickup version added in October, the Mitsubishi 360 was rather quaintly styled. Suicide doors and a swage line which continued across the hood were often accented by whitewall tires and lace curtains to complete the picture.
The 360 and Minica were given a thorough facelift in November 1964, with an entirely new front clip with a pressed metal chrome grill. The more modern look was accompanied by the new, somewhat more powerful ME24 engine, affording a top speed of 53MPH.
The 360 was updated again in 1967, with updated looks and an improved ME24D engine producing 20HP, giving it a 55 MPH top speed.
