I've started messing with my evo ix and while it comes with the AYC stock I was wondering if the adjustable LSD was a better option for tuning, or is the AYC the faster option?

I don't use AYC on any evo, it seems to be slow for my driving style,
stutters in the corner under power, and it also cause's the evoX to have really bad speed wobble on a fast straight.

Using the LSD on an Evo is like going to a steakhouse and ordering a tuna fish sandwich, imo. AYC is what makes it unique, seems a shame not to use it. Admittedly, it does have a bit of an artificial feel while cornering, but I think the reduction in understeer is worth it. The known "wobble" issue only really applies to the X, in which case you simply lower the setting until it stops. I set it to 80 on the X and 130 on all other versions. If you decide that you really don't like AYC you're probably better off in a Subaru.

Probably cause i'm on a wheel but even with it set to its lowest setting (i think it was 30) the evoX still wobbles.

Definitely Active Yaw Control. Makes the Evo handle basically like a GT-R. I can't make the LSD replicate the effect is has on understeer. You'll get incredibly annoying oscillation on the straights if you dial AYC up too high like londoner said, but the increased corner speed and improved corner exit makes it worth it.

Really? If I set the LSD right, then it's overall better. It doesn't wobble, better feedback, holds the line better, easier to drive, no unexpected reactions, even less understeer in the most corners and it just feels better.

Don't want to say that you're wrong, that's just my experience with AYC and LSD.

Removing AYC from an Evo is like removing a Skyline GT-R's ATTESSA system, you're basically ripping the soul out of the car. From a performance standpoint though, LSD is better if you know how to set it up. Otherwise the AYC is more user-friendly with it's "turn dial for more turning lolz!"

I wonder if there are other ways to remove the wobble? toe dif mabye even some suspension settings? If my understanding is right the AYC directs power to the outside wheels during a corner to help the car turn, so why would it be active on a straite? Or is it a: you make an input, then it over reacts, then you correct, it over reacts, ect type of thing?

Haven't messed with the AYC yet, but i liked it in the previous GT's

I'm ok with ripping it's soul out if it goes faster:sly: so I'll stick with my tried and true LSD

Ok, so AYC For tight twisty tracks, LSD for tracks with long straights where corner speed isnt as neccesary maybe?

I don't use a wheel so the wobble isn't an issue, the only thing I care about is pure performance. Both dr.slump and Roj think the LSD is faster, and with their experience I gotta go with them. Plus I'm used to using the LSD.

sorry to bump this old thread, but how are you guys tuning the mechanical lsd? Having trouble setting up anything that works.
