Hi,

Please could someone advise.

I sent a message to an online Mod, but he has now become offline, so I don't know when he'll read the message.

I feel it is reasonably urgent, maybe not an emergency case, but something which the site staff or moderators should know about as things can 'snowball' quite quickly.

Below is an exact copy of the PM I sent to the mod. Could someone advise please??

Here is the link to the thread inquestion:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=161131

Like I say in the message below, I hope I haven't overreacted or overstepped the mark, I just felt the site staff should know about this happening asap incase it spreads.

Alternatively, have I got this wrong, are traders allow to do this??

If that is the case, then I'm very sorry for raising a new thread and for wasting peoples time, subsequently, please close this thread ASAP.

Many thanks
H

Hi,

Please could you help, I have seen something in the GT5 Marketplace which I feel warrants the attention of either a moderator or someone from the site staff.

I feel as though although this might not be an 'emergency', I do feel as though it's something which should be looked at by at least someone from the site staff team as I feel it could have an impact or implications to th GT5 Marketplace generally.

Who do I need to speak to or what do I have to do??

THE PROBLEM / ISSUE

Overnight a trader (whom I am trying to trade with)has put a 'disclaimer' in their OP of their trade thread which say they may not be able to complete on time because they have other priorities and are not good at communicating.

I feel this guy is trying to exempt himself from the rules and I feel this is wrong, or at least requires looking into reasonably urgently because:

1) GTP rules, everyone has to follow them, there are no exceptions for anyone at any time for any reason.

2) If this guy has put a disclaimer in the OP of his trade thread and other traders see this, I feel there is a risk that others might follow suite and it might snowball, the consequences of this could be minor, or possible be quite major.

I hope I'm not over reacting, I just feel that this should be brought to the attention of the site staff at the earliest opportunity but I don't know who to contact or how to go about this??

Please could you advise??

I hope I have not 'overstepped the mark' or overreacted, I just feel this situation warranted being brought to a site admins staff's attention asap.

Please accept my sincere apologies if I have overeacted or you feel I have contacted you unnecessarily.

This was not my intention.

Kind regards
H

Your best bet in any situation like this is to use the Report button, which automatically emails the entire staff. That's the best way to reach the widest number of staff members.

OK, cool, no problemo...

I'll do that now.

I didn't use the report facility as I've used this once before and nothing seemed to happen, I felt this matter was of general importance which is why I PM'd a mod and started this thread in this location.

But, no problem, I'll report this now.

Many thanks for your help. 👍

I've just looked at his first post, and it seems to me to be crystal clear. He is saying in no uncertain terms that his trading will be on an extended schedule. If that's not acceptable to users, then they should not trade with him. If it is, then they should. He's offering plenty of warning ahead of time. He's even offering a bonus for the delays.

I understand that some open trades may have been caught in between his original post and this disclaimer, but it also seems that all future trades should be well aware.

Yeah, yeah, I understand your point, I'm definately not going to argue with you!!

But the problem is, I feel, twofold.

1) Having a disclaimer like this means he can send cars as and when he pleases, this means the people expecting cars to be received from him have no idea when they will get them.

He says he's a bad communicator, this is wrong, he doesn't communicate at all, even when you ask him to!

So you have no idea what's going on with your trade, when it's going to arrive and whether he has any intention of fulfilling it.

Also, the free paints thing is rubbish, I've waited 6 days, nothing has been received from him.

Basically, even though he has written this, he doesn't abide by this, so I have no idea if he's a scammer or being honest.

2) If more traders operated like this, would it not increase the workload for the satff?? For example, as mentioned above, a long period of no communication and no receipt of agreed item is going to make people suspiscious and think they are being scammed, would this not mean that more people would then be referring traders who operate like this to the site staff - increasing their already (I imagine) heavy workload??

I do not mean to argue with you or turn this thread into a personal greivance thread against this guy, I understand what your saying, but unfortunately, once you've experienced what this guy is like and how he blatantly he abuses his disclaimer, to leave you totally confused about the trade, I feel if other take his example the Market place will descend, eventually, into possible chaos.

No one will know who or what to beleive.

Maybe I am being cynical or slightly over reacting because of my bad experience with this guy, but I just can't help feel that something like this, if taken on board by other traders, and abused in the way this guy abuses it, would be detrimental to the good reputation if this site.

Which I why I felt the need to raise the issue, rather than it being a personal vendetta against this guy.

All the guys I've traded with have been cool, a couple of them have been top blokes, really helpful and informative. I think it would be a shame to loose that if others copied this guy and this way of trading became the norm.

Kind regards and thanks for your help and advice.

I do appreciate your position, and I don't think it's personal on your part. However, ALL trading in the Marketplace is done at both traders' risk.

This way of trading will NOT become the norm if people simply refuse to accept the terms of this kind of transaction. Again, I sympathize with your position of being caught in the middle here, but I don't see much we can do besides state that people need to be careful how and with whom they trade.

Cool, no problem.

I appreciate the time you've spent listening to my comments, I know how busy you guys are at the moment.

Yeah, I agree, hopefully people will see sense and avoid trade threads like these, and subsequently they will 'burn themselves out' and the 'good guys' will stand the test of time.

Once again many thanks for hearing my concerns and advising on the situation.

Kind regards
H

No problem, and we do appreciate all feedback. There is a "reputation" thread stickied at the top of the marketplace board, with instructions on how to use it in the first post. If your deal truly does go bad, or has already done so, then feel free to leave negative feedback for the trader. Good luck.
