"Modifications" count under "Status" in Garage

Anyone can clearly indicate what exactly makes this number grow? At first I thought this was simply the number of parts I did install on my cars in the tuning shop. But I know for sure that when I buy used cars, sometimes there's already modifications on it. Even worse, I get new ones and don't perform any mod on it, and still the number keeps growing, just by using them. Some I haven't even used in a single race, some I only "entered" the car by starting the engine. I know for sure I haven't changed anything on the cars, not even tires. No oil change, no car wash, etc. Nothing.

I think I've read once someone say that it may happen that the "previous owner" of a car might have messed with some settings on the car. That would make sense when you buy a used car at first. But what makes this number continue to grow, just by "using" it in some races? I know after lvl 40, you have to pay for damages, but I'm only at lvl29. Could it be that when I make damage to my car in a race, they repair it automatically without noticing me, and the repairs count in the "modifications" count?

I've been searching for this all day long yesterday, and haven't even found a single mention of this. Anyone knows anything about this? thanks

If you mean the 'changes' number this is the number of times you have selected the car to use it.
Every time you change in to that car the number goes up.

Please correct me if I'm wrong on this.

Well, I'm not really sure about the exact in-game word for you, because actually my game is set in French, but what I'm talking about is in the garage, when you're on a particular car's page, the section at the bottom right where it says like:

Status
------
Obtention date: The date you won/bought the car
Modifications: ____
Distance (KM): mileage
Wins: Number of victories with this cars


Just as an example, I'm on my Red Bull X2010's page right now, it says "Modifications: 14" and "Wins: 38" ... following your theory, how can I have won 38 races with this car, by selecting it only 14 times?

That is the number of times you have changed to that car or in other words the number of times you have gotten out of one car and into that one.

You're damn right my friend! I just verified and it's exactly this. Entered a different car, went to a race, quit, got back home and it went up a number. I guess this was just a bad translation from english to french.. For me, the word Modifications means I have actually modified something, right? The person who translated must have seen the word Changes like it was the number of parts changed, and not the number of times I changed cars.
Anyway, thanks a lot! This was driving me mad not knowing exactly what was always changing like that on my cars! Some had like 30 modifications and I was starting to wonder what the f it was!
