I think he is on track to become a dictator. he started out looking promising, but not now. Maybe he'll stop, but I don't think so.

yep a real piece of work this guy  ,still early days but already his reign has been widely controversial to be kind.

Well right now he has the full support of the US and Egypt seems relatively mild in it's temperament right now.

At the end of the day though, the army still has that government uneasy.

I can't remember if it's in the link i posted or elsewhere but theres a protest apparently planned in Tahir square on the 27th, that could just kick everything off again.

We'll know if Morsi is a dictator when the new constitution comes into effect.

Egypt may have stabilised since the revolution, but as I understand it, only the surface is calm; the depths are turbulent. There are a lot of factions vying for power, and the military in particular still carries a lot of influence. Anyone wanting to undercut Morsi's claim to the presidency could waste a lot of time by forcing everything to go through the courts, slowing the process down and delaying the introduction of a new constitution. If Morsi makes no progress and fails to deliver on his promise of a new constitution, Egypt could be faced with a new revolution. By stripping the power of the courts to challenge him, Morsi can make sure the constitution comes to fruition.

Of course, then he has to give up the power he has just granted hismelf - but if he's smart, he'll have it written into the constitution. If he holds onto it even then, he becomes a dictator.

Being an African, I've had the opportunity to see this occur time and time again over the time I lived in 'du Sud'.This looks like the time honoured African tradition of cleaning out on dictatorship and having someone step right into the vacuum.

The next step will be public demonstrations growing again, and then the armed forces quelling it and then we're back where we were 12 months ago.

^^^^

Armed forces quelling the people ? i Thought that was the police force The army was Neutrul

I Just hope egypt lives great days The egyptian people are really nice and im sorry for them

Sorry, poor choice of words - I meant the police. 👍

I'd like to say that too, but remember these are the same people that made Pyramids in the middle of a freaking desert. :)

Then again they loved cats to a weird degree... :ill:

Seems cats got used to being kings of the world so just expect it... but this is WAY off topic
