Ok so I was reading some threads and notices some ideas about having to replace worn parts on cars like brake pads, the whole brakes, the suspension when it gets worn which will probably take a while, and parts of the engine like the turbo's and the internals of the engine, would you guys like the idea of these being in GT6 and if u guys have any ideas please post them.

Its an interesting idea but I think it would be better suited to games with a more niche appeal, think iRacing and rFactor.

No I wouldn't like that at all.

Nobody in their right mind would. I'm sure like five or ten people would like it and ten million would hate it. It's one of those deals where it might sound good on paper but would be horrible in practice.

If they did it the right way, like during endurance races, I would be okay with it. But they would have to model brake pad and rotor wear and fade, random suspension failures etc.

It would be kinda cool to have to take an extended pit stop to change pads and rotors during endurance races. Then maybe give you the option to choose harder and softer pads, one for shorter races that don't last as long but give you better stopping power, and one for endurance races that last longer but don't perform as well.

The more, the better.

Give me more stuff to worry about in my cars. Worry about the cooling system if I do upgrade some stuff in my car, worry about the water temperature, the fuel pressure, oil, all that.

Real breakdowns, real problems to solve. Want a 900hp beast? Ok, that will cost you.

And of course, make all that part of an "expert mode"... want to take care of all that yourself? Ok, you can. Don't want to worry about? Just put it on "automatic maintenance mode".

It`s like turning an action adventure game into a RPG.
You want a RPG? Buy one. You want an action adventure? You chose.

No need to make a bad hybrid. Ah, talking about hybrids...

Make the game less about racing and more about pointless micromanaging? Brilliant! Better yet just take out the racing all together. make the game completely Bspec so you can truly focus your input on keeping your cars in tip-top shape.

It's like that stupid franchise mode in the last football game I had (I think it was Madden? Can't remember it was quite a few years ago) setting up teams you don't even play with... setting ticket prices... managing refreshment prices at the stadium... WTF? I thought this was supposed to be a football game not a business simulator.

Exactly this. If I have to buy another game to play around with this sort of system, so be it, but it'd be nice to see it in GT6 as an optional element, or added dimension, so to say.

On RFactor with LMP cars in the Enduroseries mod you could pick from differing engine packages - so you could have a high power sprint package, or a lower but more reliable 24hr package instead.

This right here. I always get frustrated that games dont include this! Im sorry but I race and have race cars and they require constant up keep. This is something that should be included. Random failures woudl be great!

How about having it as an add-on or option because I wouldn't want them to make a whole game about this one thing I would want it to be an "extra" if u want to call it that.... But one thing that has always confused me is why they have on the case it says gran turismo 5 the real driving simulator but they have all of these fake options. Has anyone else ever wondered about that?

That's exactly why i have always wondered why they have gran turismo 5 the real driving simulator on the case when it is but it's lacking realism in some areas like this

One more thing I have also wondered why they don't have a true all out racing sim for gaming consoles?

I have always wondered why PD don't include this in GT games I mean on the case it says gran turismo 5 the real driving simulator when it's missing realism in areas like this.

I have also wondered why there is not a hardcore racing sim for PS3 because PD has the ability to do just that.

You also need to spend hours/weeks/months repairing a car after a shunt in the real world, do you want that in a game as well? There are some things you just need to look over to get ENJOYMENT in a game. Most people don't like it but you have to do repairs and upkeep in real life, you don't have to on a virtual car, they can leave it out and just leave the fun stuff.

Anyone that does enjoy doing it in real life I'm sure enjoys it for the physical aspect of it, in a game you would just be pressing buttons. That's never fun, it's just a chore.

I wouldn't mind brake changes and longer repairs in endurance races but in between normal races, no thanks.

That actually would suck because then u would have to wait as long as crap to rebuild the engine and to rebuilt the chassis how about a couple of hours like 2-5 hours for an engine rebuild itl teach people to cherish their cars and will make people get on to repair their car so they can enter the championship race in a few hours.

Like "unrealistic" jumps in fictional racing circuits, maybe?

It seems you have already assumed a "degree" of maintenance, which is odd; the car wash feature is next-to-useless because of nerfed accumulation. It seems like you're saying this feature can be included as long as it doesn't actually do anything, which is pretty insulting as a gesture. I think PD need to stop being afraid of offending middle-of-the-road "sim" racers like you and actually do something worthwhile to further the genre. Also, options. :)

Been discussed several times on several topics on this very subforum, me being one of the main detractors.

Problem is GT5 already had huge amounts of unnecessary waste time, for example buying cars one by one and many, many others that end up in hours to days of watching blank screens and menu transitions. What you are asking ends up in more of the same (wasting time in not playing) plus it is not a good idea to "simulate" one of the worst parts of car ownership.

Imagine you come from work and want to play GT6 before sleeping. What you want to do is to "drive" a Pagani Zonda, not to service it.
