The Pescarolo 01 was the first prototype car built by Pescoralo Sport, designed to meet LMP1 and LMP2 specifications in ELMS, replacing their C60 chassis. The reason for building the 01 was that the C60's Pescoralo used in 2006 would be unable to be raced in 2007 due to the changes in regulations. They built their own chassis and became a full time constructor, and also sold the cars to customers for use as well.

Many teams showed interest in buying their new chassis, including Rollcentre Racing, Lister Racing and Kruse Motorsports. The car had a great first season, finishing 2nd overall at it's first Le Mans race, in between 2 Peugeot 908's with a second car finishing 4th. They followed this up in 2008 with a 3rd place while Rollcentre finished in 4th.

At the following race, the Nürburgring 1000 km, the works car managed a third place again, behind the two Peugeot 908 HDi FAP and for the Spa event (1000 km) on August 19 it was classified second in the race, just being beaten by the surviving Peugeot of Lamy-Sarrazin (the other one having not finished the race due to a rare mechanical failure), the other works Pescarolo ranking at 4th place. These great finishes allowed Pescoralo to secure 2nd place in the LMP1 teams championship.

In 2012, after Pescoralo went bankrupt, OAK Racing partnered with Morgan Motor Company and thus the car was renamed the Morgan LMP2 and continued racing in major series up until 2015. The car, equiped with a Nissan VK45DE engine, enjoyed great success in 2013, winning the LMP2 class of Le Mans and in the WEC and Asian LMS.

In 2015 Team Sard, who race factory Toyota's in SUPER GT, partnered with Team Morand to field a Morgan LMP2 in the 2015 World Endurance Championship, powered by a Sard tuned Judd V8. The car saw some success, with all points finishes aside from 1 DNF. They ended up 5th in the LMP2 Teams Championship and 7th in the Drivers.
