The RIP Special is built upon a 1929 Morgan chassis and originally featured a 996cc J.A.P JTOR vee-twin, producing up to 55 horsepower. The RIP Special is one of many Morgan four-wheeled conversions that took place, but one of very few that survives to this day - their supposed performance advantages proved to be almost nonexistent, mostly down to the simple chain to 1.5" solid bar spool rear axle.

The bodywork is made of canvas stretched over a wooden frame, and has undergone gradual modifications throughout its lifetime. It currently uses Morris Minor front wheels, a very popular choice for Morgan racers because of their ability to hold hydraulic brakes. A single drum brake on the rear is operated by a small cable. It currently has a 1316cc air cooled engine, and the fuel tank has been relocated from directly above the dashboard.

Most importantly however, the car gets its name from the large tapered spike that covers the rear axle, which is also constructed of wood and covered in canvas, and finished with an aluminium tip. Since it's a very small and rakish car, the chances of it actually doing injury are fairly low, but following in a 500cc F3 car may not be the best idea.

The car currently competes in a variety of hillclimbs and club race meetings organised by the VSCC.
