How in the hell did this fool qualify for a racing licence?
I'm surprised he even managed to get a road licence with that level of ineptitude.

* edit * - he has some outstanding race stats for anyone who cares to look them up.

Didn't even win anything in any form of Motor Racing until 2017 in the BOSS GP Series (Where, incidentally, he won the Formula Class title!)

(I've looked it up!)

In more recent times, we've had Niels Koolen, not all Dutch can be Max after all...

They're both proof that some people have more dollars than sense.

I'm kind of shocked that a class as prestigious as F2, doesn't enforce a minimum qualifying time of 105% of the pole position.

In addition, the fact Koolen was allowed to wobble around 3 seconds per lap off the pace at Monza, also proves just how far out of his depth he really is.

I'm not sure if they still do, but even NASCAR used to enforce a minimum lap speed, to stop those that cobbled together a car for a participation medal.

Ott Tanak crashed out of rally Japan in spectacular fashion at the weekend. However the shocking OMG moment comes later, as Martin Jarvejoa is retrieving documentation from their car, Heikki Kovalainen crashes in the same spot, landing on the Hyundai. Jarvejoa is able to get clear in time to avoid a serious incident.

The onboard from both crashes is insane to watch. Massive airborne crashes

Since the race just ended, I’ll put the results in the spoiler tab, but some context is needed for what went down here.

A lot of complicated NASCAR Championship format things but the short version, Ross Chastain had to beat Denny Hamlin in the race to be eligible to race for the championship in next weekends season finale if Christopher Bell won. On the final lap, Chastain was 5 places behind Hamlin. So in the final corner, in a move a pure desperation, stuck the car in high gear, kept it pinned, and rode the wall all the way thru 3 & 4. And he came off the corner side by side with Hamlin and beat him to the line.

(Apologies for the profanity of my initial reaction.)
