I have a few files that have the extension .mpc. I've read somewhere that it is like .mp3, but better.

What program do I need to play these .mpc files?

Also, could I burn these .mpc files onto a regular audio disk and still have them play in ordinary CD Players?

From what I have experienced, ordinary CD players only seem to play .wav files maybe newer ones play .mp3 and .wma files, but I'm pretty sure .mpc aren't played in ordinary CD players.

Well, when you burn .mp3 files they turn into .wav so that CD Players can play them no?

I didn't write my question very well - If I burn .mpc files will they turn into .wav files, or whatever files it is that regular CD Players play?

They will if you burn an audio cd.

Audio cd is where the files get converted to .wav and you can fit around 18 songs on the cd.
An mp3 disc is where you basically copy 650MB worth of mp3's onto the disc.

Alright, thanks ITR.

When I saw .mpc I was leik omg wtf!!!111!11!1

EDIT - Well I also found out that neither Nero nor Acoustica would burn .mpc's into Audio CD's.

I did, however, find a nifty little program that converts a variety a files into different formats. 👍

Too bad it's only a trial version. :grumpy:

Isn't *.mpc the Musepack extension? I think it is. It's a high quality (not lossless) audio codec.

excellent quality on the mpc files. Rather than converting them, you should just get the dlls that winamp needs to run it. You won't lose massive amounts of audio quality that way.
