I was wondering if you could see fuel economy in GT5, and if it has any effect on the cars. For example, does it take longer to refuel a Ford GT than for example, a Skyline sedan? Also, is there any period of time where it makes sense to use a R10 TDI versus a more fuel inefficiient car (a R8 or 787B)?

No fuel economy, you have to work that out for yourself. I drive the car 5 laps on the circuit I'm going to race on then refuel and see how much gets put into the car then a bit of simple math will tell you what your consumption is.

As far as I know all cars fill up at the same rate.

Choice of car will always be important in longer races where pit strategy comes into play (like endurance races) but that's part of the fun, figuring out if you want speed or fuel efficiency. You don't get both so you have to find the car and combination that suits your style.

Easiest track to do it on is Daytona. 2.5 miles a lap, all flat out. Come back into the pits and do the math like Argon said above.

I also have another question regaurding this. If you were to take a Red Bull and completly refill the tank (say 100 litres) and you also had a also completly empty Skyline (say 10 litre fuel tank) would the Skyline refill 10 times quicker? Or would their fuel gauges refill at the same rate?

All cars in GT5 have the same size tanks at, I believe, 100 units (of unknown size, probably litres.)

Now, with this information, we can compile a list of the LM cars for the enduros and calculate which cars are the fastest overall by 3 different drivers, with fuel economy taken into consideration, and may/may not keep expanding this list to involve most sportscars, if that would be possible.

EDIT: Just found fuel consumption of LM cars thread. See here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=260364

Now we need to put in the MPG for supercars, and see how they compare with real life.

Hi all, Sorry to randomly appear with questions but whilst this thread is on the topic of fuel it seems to be the best place for it... Does less fuel mean less overall weight of the car?

If it does, it's a minimal difference, at least on average weight cars. It does make a small difference on lap times I believe, when I throw in 5 laps with fuel consumption turned on in practice mode in my IS-F with 2,000+ miles on it (full kick in) and constantly refreshed oil I keep becoming faster by about 0.2-0.4 sec a lap while keeping the same line at full throttle. After the 5th lap I usually become slower though, as tyre wear becomes apparent now, and somewhere mid 5th lap I run out of fuel if I don't pit.

Yes. Apparently while PD didn't allow standard car's headlights to be controlled, they included fuel weight into their weight algorithm. PD is a strange bunch.
