We have been running several test sessions in preparation for our upcoming season. We will be runnign mulitclass based on an IMSA style (LMP2, GTE and GT3), and intended to use the rolling start feature, however we have discovered something a bit concerning.

I'm not sure if it is something that I have wrong in our setup, or if it is a detail that perhaps got missed within the game, but it seems the grid is only being sorted based on qualifying lap times. This means that we have faster GTEs formed up in the midst of the LMP2s and faster GT3s formed up in the midst of the GTEs.

Is it possible to have the grid sorted by BOTH qualifying time AND class? IF not now, can this be included in a future patch? If not currently possible, we will revert back to our previous pCARS1 manual process, but if it is possible to sort by both time and class, it would be highly beneficial (and more authentic).

I'll test it. Regardless of quali times, faster classes were always supposed to be in front of slower classes on the grid. I tested it myself prior to release and it was working correctly (lmp2 always in front of gtlm etc.)

I thought it should be working that way, but so far it hasn't been.

As an example, last night we had 9 or 10 cars on the server, 1 or 2 LMP2s, 4 GTEs and 4 GT3s at Daytona, practicing for our event this weekend.

One of the GT3s managed to set a slightly faster lap time than 2 of the GTEs. As a result, the game had him in front of those 2 GTE cars (I was the GTE car right behind him). I was being shown as P3, even though I was the 5th or 6th car in line, so it knew my position in class, but it had the P1 GT3 ahead of me because his qualifying time was 0.1 seocnds faster than mine. WHen I tried to pass him on the formation lap, as a test, I was immediately told to drop back into my spot.

I may have saved the replay of that one.

Dedicated server using server.cfg file. We'll test it again tonight.

Thanks.

If this is indeed a bug, you guys should actualy keep this but with a toggle-able option for it to ignore the classes or not when sorting the grids.
Having different classes actually go against each other is extremely fun too.

@The_American, I did confirm again tonight. We had GT3s formed up ahead of GTEs again tonight.

For the short term we will revert back to the manual rolling start process we used for the past few seasons in pCARS1, but if this can be addressed, it would be great. Overall, the in game "manual" rolling start works extremely well otherwise. We really do appreciat ethe fact that is has been included, it's just unfortunate that at the moment there is a minor issue that prevents us from using it.

Do you want me to also post this on the official forum? I haven't yet, as I wasn't certain if it was indeed a "bug", or a user issue. :)

This. I was enjoying RS01 vs Super Trofeo because on paper their power-to-weight ratios are identical to a tenth decimal place and in qualifying it was very mixed up. It just depends on the track if the Lambo's have enough space to accelerate past with their 60HP advantage but the Renault is a good 300 pounds lighter so there's that in the turns lol

I'm not against allowing both as options. I'm just trying to verify how it's SUPPOSED to work right now, and if what I am seeing is NOT right, is there something I am setting up wrong on my Dedicated Server.

Our season is based off of an IMSA style grid, and so we expected to follow an IMSA style starting procedure.

I have no doubt that in the right hands a GT3 in game can out qualify a GTE, however I do knwo that the GTE is quicker in the corners and over the long runs in a race. I would rather not have the GTE lose contact wiht the rest of his class, simply because he is "stuck" behind a GT3 in the opening laps.

Just for additional info, the attached image contains the starting grids for 3 different Online, MultiClass, Dedicated Server hosted events. As oyu can see, there are mixed classes in all 3.

There is no concern around the lap times set by the various drivers, Some are still very new ot their cars and still coming to terms. Others have put in unGodly hours already. The only question/concern is regarding the mixing of the classes on the grid.

And this "issue" is only present in online. In a Quick Race, multiclass, offline event the grid order is sorted by classes.

Does this also happen in single player custom race and career or just online?
So far I have only seen it in online races, but that's the world I mainly live in. The few offline practice races I have done have been correct (non career mode).
