Multiple garages...

I think is good Idea to have an aditional garage to put the cars I modified and separate them from the stock or original models...

I don't so much think we need multiple garages, but the more options we have to sort the garages the better imo. There was quite a few filters in GT4 which came in handy, being able to add different personal markers next to each ar and use thoes markers as filters as well would be a good thing imo. For example you could add a personal marker and name it the rally tuned marker and place it on all the cars you have setup for rallying. then if you want to do a rally race you can just filter for rally tuned cars.

This kind of thing is what really lets the GT series down. PD don't seem to want to put any kind of useful options in their games. As LFS said, loads more filters, which allow the player to find the car they want would be a great idea. Other things like letting the player select how they want to driving HUD laid out would be nice. Some folks don't want the rear view mirror, but they do want their overal position.

PD just don't seem to give this part of their game every much thought. Lets hope for GT5 is better.

This could easily be done through allowing the driver to give the car a lable in the garage, in addition to the name it comes with.
I have multiple copies of many cars, and the only way to tell them apart is by color, HP, and by how recently used.
There are many cars for which I keep a stock copy and a modified copy, and if you get deep into the settings, there is no easy way to track this.

Err... Polyphony provided a number of different sort filters in the last few GTs, so how is this letting the series down?? What other game needs file filters? And isn't the rear view mirror deselectable?? I'm confused.

In any case, I'm sure with the room available and horsepower of the PS3, I expect that we'll have a more complete UI and racing options to make even the PC crowd happy.

I say something like the "Press Start" thing in GT2, except easier. You know, drag and drop cars into a particular order.

I was pretty satisfied with the sort filters oin GT4, but a way to distinguish between two of teh same car, one with modifications and one that is stock would be a good one to add.

I can see a purpose behind a second garage/profile. Multiple players can use the same system to have multiple saves. Hopefully with a hard drive this won't be an issue, but it would have been nice in past versions where people have brothers or sisters that want to play to be able to save a separate profile on the same card. If they only allow one profile with a hard drive based system then it will really ne annoying.

-> I still like the idea of a progressive garage compared to the multiple garages system. I don't like the idea of having one garage and another. (:

There was a thread devoted to the multiple garage, and there were some good ideas in it. I think the only reason to have multiple garages is if the garage is a modelled environment itself, with the cars laid out in rows and columns. Which would rock, actually. But a good filter/sort implementation would be just fine with me.

My point was the PD never seem to want to give the player the options to tailor things to their liking. Whether it be for sorting your garage, or customising the display. Take GTR for example. You can even change the position of the seat in the car. Camera views is another big joke. The game is modelled in full 3D. So let ME position the camera where I want it. Sure give us four pre sets, but I still want to be able to move the camera into a different position as I see fit.

This for me comes across as either being arrogate or plain stupid. I get the impression that PD think they know it all, and despite the endless ideas that fans have, very little changes between versions. It just more cars, more tracks, and better graphics. At least with GT4 they gave us photo mode as an all new feature. Now I understand they can't put all our ideas in the final game, otherwise it would never be finished, but PD just seem to be resting on their laurels a bit too much for my liking. They need some serious competition to give them the kick they need.

Lets hope that the PS2 was the limiting factor to the last games, and the PS3 will allow them to make the game they should have done years ago.

I would like them (PD) to give us the option to put cars into 'folders' Then we could name the folders as we see fit - 'race', 'stock', 'modified', 'rally', 'concept-cars-you'll-never-drive-but-can't-sell' etc etc.

We had discussed the folder concept earlier in the year, and there are a few things that give that idea merit. I posted the idea of a folder Polyphony would put into the game titled "For Sale," where we could put our car creations or old beaters we didn't care for anymore. In Forza when you buy a car, I believe, the original doesn't disappear. That would be a good thing in the case of GT5 in that if I created a spanking hot looking car, any number of people on the planet could buy it, which would result in notoriety for me, as well as a big potential income.

So this is one example where the folder idea works best. I'd imagine rather than calling them folders, the sensible thing to do is call them Garages. For Sale Garage sounds much more motorsports than For Sale Folder. ;)

If they did this, then maybe they could allow you to pay for them, but Multiple Garages is kind of like PGR3.

*revives*

wow this sounds like an excelent idea. i currently have three memory cards devoted to GT4. one card is my primary save where i'm working on completing the game. that card only has the cars i've used for races on it which is about 20 cars.

the other two were created when i was at about 40 percent complete. (now fortified with the max cash code. lol) one has all the cars on it that i actualy LIKE. stock and moded ones. the other card is a collection of every prize car that i have won so far (everything but the one make races) being able to have multiple garages would definately be a good thing and i wouldnt have to have three different GT saves to keep my cars separated. big thumbs up on the idea from me. :)đź‘Ť

I agree that the users garage needs expanded big time. I think either folders or names would work fairly good. Perhaps folders would be best especially if you could make unlimited folders. I also think that they need to include thumbnail images of the cars in your garage. So maybe one screen could display up to 25 thumbnail images or fewer but bigger images depending on how you set it up. Also lets say your pointer hovers over a certain vehicle for 15 seconds then a full screen picture with details comes up. I also would like to see a simple way to compare cars while in garage. What I mean by this is compare stats then display in variuos chart formats. Of course all of this is just extra's to fine tune the game. The heart and soul of the game should be as perfect as possible before extra's is done.

i think it should have a central garage but lik PGR3. when you outgrow on you move onto a larger garage instead of keeping the old one like in PGR3. I like to walk around my garage and look at my cars in PGR3.

I wonder if anyone would like your filters to stay after you leave the garage, so when you come back your cars are seperated teh way they were when you left? That always was kinda silly for me if I was doing a certain power to wieght ratio time trial and had to go back every time and reset the filter to find my cars.

I agree. I have recently gone through trying to finsh tuning all the cars that I have won/bought and haven't taken time to tune yet but I have to resort my garage every time to find them.

Pero's BACK..

They'd must choose to put in GT5, - different garages from different location around the globe, HOW'S THAT.:sly:
