Music During Time Trials?

Is anyone listening to music while trying to set times in GT Academy? And if so, what kind? Back in Round 1 I had my racing music set to the sound track of Rage Racer. I thought my times may have been suffering because of it so I turned all music off but it made no difference in my performance.

Right now I am listening to the soundtrack to F-Zero GX but I am wondering if it is making me think too quickly (I find myself entering corners way too early). I was thinking about setting my race music to the soundtrack of Ridge Racer Type 4 to settle me a little and make me drive smoother (might help my rhythm with the R35 on Eifel).

I know this topic may seem silly but I was just curious as to what everyone else was listening to (more so about the top 8).

I like to listen to music that makes me feel good before hand, lately I've been on a kid cudi fix. So while I'm racing I'll be singing "in my mind, sounds like oooOooh"

Depends on the engine/tire noise for the car track combo...sometimes I can't hear enough with anything in the background. However, I ran a really fast lap at Cape Ring listening to:

@Dapper: "Runnin' Down A Dream" could seriously be the theme song of GT Academy.

@blindsidefive0: I agree, its important to hear the engine and the tires. I adjusted my sound settings to where most of what I hear is the engine and the tires but I have music in the background to keep me from going crazy after 50 laps or so. However I'm 50th in the NE and struggling (stupid day job) so if the top 8 says no music, I'll try going no music again.

Never have, probably never will. Since you can't actually feel what the car is doing underneath you, all we rely on as sim-racers is the feedback from the wheel and our visual and auditory perception of what the car is doing. I choose not to listen to music as I feel it makes it harder to pick up on the auditory clues the car is sending your way every moment of every lap.

LOL this would make me feel like I was playing GTA San Andreas, all I can think about now when I hear that song is that game

Anyway, I have music shut off not only because I like to hear all the sounds of the car but also that I have no idea how or what to upload to listen to. I like to listen to mostly trance/electro and chillout/ambient for driving music so I only have ~hour long mixes (couple hundred of them lol) instead of individual tracks and not even sure they would work on my PS3.

I could deffinetly see the ambient music working very well for easing the tension while TTing though. Love when I exit to the GT Mode screen after a long and successful hot-lapping session and a nice, chill ambient GT5 tune comes on. Feels good man lol.

+1.

I'm curious who at PD thought it would be a good idea to make the force feedback signals to the steering wheels so bland that you can't feel the slightest hint that the front wheels are starting to slip? And instead choose to use a tiny blue-red diagram of tire temperature? And then choose to place said diagram completely out of your line of sight in the bottom left corner? User interface fail.

My excuse was that I can't feel the car, and I always run with music on...I wonder if thats hurting me lol I thought it wouldn't make a difference, maybe I will post some laps with no music on and see if there is a difference. :)

I listen to this:

i was gonna post this thread, but i figured someone else would. behold!

i usually listen to a lot of DNB, metal, eurobeat, anything stupid fast, for influence on my reactions.

I just tried playing music while racing for the first time since the start of the academy and broke into 9th place in west on Eifel so seemed to work out fine. I was listening to LED ZEP 1969 favorites compilation... I think it just has the right vibe for me.

Tried the same music on Indy and it didn't go well... gonna have to go back to the VQ soundtrack tomorrow and actually make some progress there.
