Recently I was looking for a thread to review music that I had recently listened to, but came up with nothing. This thread is for reviewing new CD's, soundtracks, or any other form of music you would like to comment on. Please make sure you have heard the whole of an album before reviewing, and try to refrain from needless bashing. To make things easier, here is the format you should try to follow.

Artist - Title
Overall Score - 1/10 to 10/10
Any Individual Grades Such as:
Lyrics - Out of 10
Musicianship - Out of 10
Instruments - Out of 10
Influence - Out of 10
Vocals - Out of 10
Etc - Out of 10

Review Comments:

Ok, I was looking for a thread and I found it. I'm going to ignore the fact that it was started nearly 10 years ago and never had a single reply, because I wanted somewhere to do this. Maybe GTPlanet is finally ready for a thread like this?

Gerard Way - Hesitant Alien

Overall Score 8/10
Impressions- Former My Chemical Romance lead singer, Gerard Way has released his first ever solo album, Hesitant Alien. Many people have already rolled their eyes and clicked the back button to resume their aimless browsing, but please open minded reader, hear me out.
Gerard has taken the end of that band as a chance to reinvent himself and head in a whole new direction. This album is heavily influenced by britpop and the inspiration from bands like Blur and Joy Division can be felt in the unusual prevalence the guitar plays throughout the album. In every track, from the dry opener "The Bureau", through the bass driven "Zero Zero" all the way to the end of closing track "Maya the Psychic" the focus is squarely placed on the guitar. In a world of mainstream modern music where the guitar has been all but forgotten, the focus is definitely welcomed.
Another unusual thing about this record, is that some songs (including the single "No Shows") have periods where you have no freaking idea what he's actually singing about. Between the guitars and fuzz pedals, the vocals are all but drowned out, creating something of a stew of sound with all parts of the band melding into a single upbeat flowing noise. It's refreshing, and I suppose that is the best way to describe this record.
Hesitant Alien is a refreshing album.
