My bad driving skills or is it my controller ?

Hey guys, I am using the corvette ZR1(C6) to race online and its stock. I have noticed something, ofcourse the corvette has a lot of torque so I need to be careful around the corners but I keep hearing the screaming sound of the tire even in a straight line in like the fifth gear when I doing well above 120mph.

My controller is pretty worn out and the left L2 button which is the brakes is kind of damaged and when I shake the controller I can here some broken bit move about. So can it be because of my controller although I dont see the red brake indicator at all on the screen while the L2 button is unpressed. I almost always lose in a race online and people tell me I need to pick up speed on the corners but if I do I lose control specially on the nurburgring, my car starts to slide on the very slightest turns on nurburgring nordschleife e.g the very slight turn just before the second turn. Look at the corner at 0:13 on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv3F6lPqLpg , his car shakes but he has the throttle floored and it doesnt slide out.

If I am still so bad please tell me how to improve I have owned this game pretty much since it came out and I am still either crap or my controller is screwed up. I dont use any assists, mechanical damage is none and the grip reduction on wet/grass is max. Also how can I find people who race stock cars only, every room I go to people are driving lightweight heavily tuned cars :S

Cheers.

change the _setup so x is accelerate,|_|is brake, Ois handbrake /_\is reverse and direction pad and left stick =steering, right stick is also accelerate/brake and give it racing softs
P.s.buy a new controller and tune your zr1

The main problem you're having is probably not caused by your controller or even your driving skills. It's most likely because more than half of the players that play Multi-Player use tuned cars, therefor giving them an advantage.

You could try changing the controls for the game, but usually that never does much good. I'd suggest trying to find players who are more on-par with your skills. You could also try creating your own online room and changing the settings so that tuning is disallowed, and race with a few people and see if the problem persists.

I'd like to also add that I use a control myself with all the aids off and if I were to do such heavy accelerating during a corner, the majority of cars would slide out. I can't really speak for the users using a wheel though.

I am going to change the controls and see what happens but I want to keep the L2 and R2 for pedals because it makes it easier to control the torque and braking but I will change the buttons just to see if its my controller messing up.

I made a room last night with no tuning and stock cars, waited there for a good 1 hour or maybe more and no one showed up so gave up on it but will try again when I go online. Usually people just accelerate past me on the start line, I cant believe it the corvette is a 624bhp car with a lot of torque and it doesnt accelerate that fast. I have to be careful with the SLS and the C63 too as they come out and usually go in the corner the same way.

Why dont people enjoy competing in a good ol' stock car which is meant to be fast lol.

I would join shuffle rooms and get comfortable online with a variety of cars.

The stock vette is not great for handling.

What does a shuffle room do ? I thought it just changed the track ? I see on TV that corvettes are such good cars, even jeremy clarkson from top gear who usually mocks american cars likes the corvette and said it handles well. Personally I think its a fun car to drive but I need to improve on the the track my nordschleife time is usually around 7:54... something. I just dont understand why the person driving on the youtube video doesnt slide out, I have tried turning it with different radius too, entering outside and entering inside nada nothing still sliding.

try r2 for gas and square for brake. having a 1/2 inch of throttle pull really smooths out cars. i use a wheel, but thats my ds3 set up.
