Well this morning I took my girlfriend out to breakfast. So I pick her up and we start driving. All of a sudden I hear clunk...almost the entire exhaust system was on the ground so I turned around and went back to her house. Her dad came out and me adn him just ripped the exhaust off. Now its running pretty much on headers. Its loud.

And if that wasn't enough my heat isn't working real good. I think the core is gone in it. The car takes a good hour to even start to heat up. This is bad right now to since tomarrow its gunna be -4.

After I had taken Jen out to breakfast and we were on our way home I noticed that the car has a bad tendency not to want to shift real good from 1st to second. I have to force it into gear.

Well so my car is going to hell pretty fast. I should have never sold the Eclipse...at least that car didn't have heat problems. Maybe buying the Stang was a bad move. I don't know I might as well just keep it til it explodes or something.

I didn't technically sell the protege I just kinda traded it. I wonder how it turned out???? My former boss moved and took the car with him.

And ya this is the Stang

Ok I found a new problem. The rear hatch now is stuck open...it won't latch. So its now duct taped down its kinda funny. Maybe I should put a huge wing on the back to keep the hatch down

ya thats true...I shouldn't be complaining...I should be happy it just runs.

The fact that a 1986 car is falling apart that fast makes me wonder about build quality. I bought a 1964 Chevy Impala, that hand't been babied at all during its life. I bought it from a guy who had been driving it for 25 years. Nothing was done to restore it at all. Anyways, it had pretty much everything working and still there. Well, it looks like Mustangs might go up in price over the next 20-30 years because there wont be any left!!!

Well it was quite beat up when I bought it and I don't baby it to much either. The trans is a little funky because I love to "drive" the car. Well I've always been hard on a trans. Maybe I should get a auto for my next car.

It's a pity America didnt get a rebadged VN Commodore. Boy would they kill Mustangs. The 3.8 V6 was almost too powerful to drive in the wet.

We have that same GM 3.8 in the states. It powers many vehicles (from Buicks to Chevys). It's a great motor, but it won't beat any Mustang in good shape (Sorry SR :) ).

I'm sorry to hear about the Stang, but that's the way old cars get. It's not enough that one thing breaks, several go at once. :ill: At least you didn't spend all your money on the purchase of the car... :D

The only car I've ever beat with the stang has been some riced up Civics and thats not saying much.

But its kinda fun to drive a beater for once...well the Celica was a beater to but that was back when I was 15 and I was learning how to drive.

Its just that I really wish I would have some sort of way to get the car warm since tomarrow morning its going to be -8 without windchill.

Start driving south immediately. :D

Seriously, get the core replaced if you have to. It'll start spraying you with antifreeze if it's broken.

First:

-Check to make sure you have enough coolant. This can also cause your problem.

-If the coolant milky or muddy in appearance, flush your radiator. That wouldn't be unusual for an older car.

-Check for leaks...you never know.

well a 5.0 Mustang GT for 50 bucks I couldn't pass it up.

and I'm going down to AutoZone later to buy some anti-freeze so I can replace it with whats in there now. It doesn't leak I know that. The only leak is a oil leak but thats common.

Thanks for the help rising!

Streetracer, where did you get oyur car from? It could be a lemon. Look in the door hindges and underneath the carpet (small part of it) for rust and water marks. If you do see some it was probably in a flood or a car wreck. Have a professional inspector check it out. They cost around $80. If you get another used car have an inspector check it out as well before you buy it, its well worth the money...

BTW, it might not be a Mustang 5.0, people like to make their cars look like the more powerful versions. This isnt my view on ford but...

Factory
Ordered
Road
Disaster
 j/k

He bought a sixteen year old car used for $50, Palm. The Lemon Laws probably don't apply here.

It's pretty easy to tell if it's a 5.0, too...just lift the hood and count the cylinders. ;)

sorry to hear about the stang, but your in better shape then I am in right now. I have to rely on my girlfriend's purple v6 auto stang. That is "The Suck", but I am looking at a Trans Am right now. I went yesterday checking out a Z28 6 speed, and man, that changed my perception of cars totally.

They still apply, but only to some limits here. All this talk about lemons is making me thirsty :P ...

Take the motor out of it, rebuild it and replace any parts that are rooted and stick it in an old Toyota Corolla. It will fit with a little chop and weld, I've seen it done.

Ok I bought the car outta a fire departments field.

It is a 5.0

I think the heater is working better since I put new anti freeze in...but still I freeze my damn ass off. But in the morning I have a space heater and a long cord that I run out to the car to get it half way warm.

If the engine is running off headers, does the exhaust smoke fill up the engine bay? If so, how is the old girl idling? Does the exhaust smoke come out from under the hood when you drive, blinding you. Or do the headers go back far enough to send smoke up around the doors, which is pleasant for letting passengers in and out.

Gee, I wish I drove a 1986 Mustang! j/k

Most of the exhaust goes up around the doors so its not all bad. It smells pretty bad though after sittin in it for a while. It idles fine...just really loud...I MEAN LOUD.

And I wish I still drove the Eclipse!

Well the rear tires seems to be going to hell to...I checked them today and its seems they need to be replaced soon.

And for kicks here is the motor...the pic is a little old but it still looks the same I think.
