No they are not. 2002 US WRXs came stock with 16" wheel, see pic below. There was also a $3500 option for 17" BBS wheels. I changed the stock 16"s and put on the Prodrive/OZ 18" Gold P1 / P1WRC wheels you see in the pics above. They are the road version/replica of the OZ wheels used on the SUBARU WRC cars on tarmac rallies.

Black ones do look good but I just love that World Rally Blue color.

Yes, the blue does look nice.

Are you going to mod it or keep it stock?

I have done some minor mods - Prodrive muffler and mid-pipe, Cusco strut bars, Whiteline springs - and some cosmetic stuff but nothing major. I want to change out the headlights, and I'm thinking getting one of the new Prodrive Power Packs but haven't decided 100% on that yet. The car is quick enough as it is, but a little more never hurt. I just have to see if it's worth the money.

I don't know about the STi things over the foglights, man. Kind of reminds me of those kids who like to put those "Type R" stickers on their Hondas...

I have actually taken those off of my car. These pics are about 6 months old. Type R is a model of Acura/Honda, and as far as I know they don't make genuine "Type R " parts. Subaru does make a STI WRX but STI is Subaru's performance division, and STI makes all kinds parts for Subarus that they don't only put on the STI cars. Those foglight covers I had on my car don't come on the STI, and they were genuine STI parts.

MTWRX, if you get the power pack, how much is your increased hp?

It depends on which one I get. The increases are aprox 20, 40 or 68whp on 91octane pump gas and using the stock turbo. The price ranges from $1150-2500. I took a ride with one of the Prodrive guys in a power pack equiped car a couple of weeks ago and it was very nice. Useful power and very very drivable.

nice car man! The Wrx is one of the better japanese cars out there. And I take it, it's not a real STi.

"Type R" is a general Japanese term, not just Honda. For example, there is the Impreza WRX STi Type-R (and Type-RA):

Heck, even a quick perusal of GT2's available cars should show all the Type-this and Spec-that stuff that the Japanese automakers attach to their car names. Longest one I heard of was an Impreza:

Subaru Impreza WRX STi Type-RA Spec-C v.2

I'm sure a Skyline has that beat....

A friend of mine has these 18'' P1s on his Silver WRX. They definitively look better on a blue car. :)

That's a nice WRX, however i'm starting to think all the modded ones look the same...

I half agree: the older ones looked better (at least from the front), but were a little more generic. The rear was very close to a same-year Cavalier, and the front was rather Toyota-ish. With those bug eyes and oversize hood scoop, it's kind of hard to lose an '02 WRX in the crowd. Still, both were (are) quirky and...erm...definitely Subaru. ;)

Maybe you'd want to blur the plates, too. ;) There are all sorts of people on the internet.

I'm not to worried about it. I had pic of my car and plates up on the net for a while and haven't had any problems.

Man that is seriously one of the sweetest Scoobies I've seen!

That blue is REALLY nice, and I love the aftermarket wheels. Great car man. Great taste!

Nice - I really like those wheels.

I'm surprised the US Rexies only get 16's - we get 17's on the WRX here standard.

Actually, the other half wanted our Liberty/Legacy in that colour, and was devastated to find it was a WRX only colour. We went with the darkish blue, which is a pain in the backside when you don't wash the car for a couple of weeks.

Twenty years ago in Los Angeles, a man called Bardo got a young actress's license plate number, went to the DMV and for a small fee (and the plate number), got her address, went to her door, and shot her a few times. Needless to say, you can no longer do that in most states (Cal was the first). So there shouldn't be any problems. Plus - it's in public display every day on the street.

PS - you need to have two plates in California.

What do they look like?

I love how our 16's look - if I were buying a WRX, it wouldn't be the money keeping me from the larger wheels, but the fact that the 16's look better.

Yeah - they're a nice wheel, they're the same as those on our Liberty/Legacy.

The 17's are pretty similar:

Hilarious thing - the Australian Subaru website pictures were of the US spec model, I had to grab this off a car section of a local newspaper website.

I should also note the wheels are unchanged with the facelift.

Oooh - they are nice, though I remember them on "Car" magazine's long term test WRX wagon.

I see that the silly rear spoiler remains unchanged post facelift, too. :grumpy:

Oh well - Subaru was always about evolution, not revolution.

Not a fan of spoliers on road cars in any way, shape or form. The one on the big blue Super Sube's the first I've ever had on a car - handy for parking, although I would think not of much assistance crawling along in peak hour along River Road in the morning - although I will certainly concede the homologation usefulness of them.
