My Cockpit

Simple 2 part question:

1. How long are the stainless pods for the pedals?

2. What angle do you have your pedal mounting surface at?

Thanks for the pic...

I've got my footbox made. But my wheel doesnt come till monday, And I don't think i have my backplate at enough of an angle...

The three vertical lines are where the pedals will be, 5 inches apart. I included an ergo side shot so you can see how i'll be driving.

That's a lot of wood there buddy! Try keeping the pedals in the original case it looks a little more professional and just screw the whole thing from under the case which already has screw mounts in them. Plus you can always put it back to the original position incase you want to return it if it breaks before the warranty expires.

Here is another angle of the pedal setup:

can you not re-assemble the unit once you remove the pods?

I know the plastic base has the nuts encased to the bottom, but I was wanting to take the pods out and just mount them that way. As you can tell, it doesn't have to be 100% good looking...just function right.

FYI i'm 19 and in college for Mechanical Engineering, trying to get into real racing. And the total cost of the shifter and footbox combined was about $18....the most expensive item being a $6 box of 3" wood screws.....Gotta love scrap bins from construction sites ;)

Taking it out exposes the wires and more likely to break the conections or solder points. Which will show signs of tampering and void warranty. IMO

Are the wires seriously attached that weakly?

Once installed, that pedal box isn't moving (so the wires wont be either). It weighs about 15 pounds as is...

Main reason i'm wanting to take them out, is for the 5" spacing. If the G25 pedals are as close as the MOMO ones, I can't handle that....I've been using the MOMO wheel and sidewinder pedals, because they're further apart (MOMO are pictured though, for size comparison). The ones in our firebird are 6" apart, so if i have to space mine out further I can and still be realistic.

The other half of my Ergonomics, for the shifter...

I went ahead and re-titled the topic.

Here's my whole setup- the chair is in it's actual race position (just not leaned back).

If you're wondering, I shot the picture of Tony Kanaan's car on my right screen, I work for racingforthewin.com.

RAD, I think i'll go ahead and take your advise and leave as is and see how it feels...But I have a good feeling they'll be coming apart....the momo ones are awefully stuffy with my shoes on.

I need more driving time to decide if they're staying stock or coming apart. Right now only the top center bolt is holding it on there, and it's barely on there to begin with.

no sound since i'm using headphones (2 AM) but i think you can imagine based off the thrashing....
