My Driving Force is Retarded

I have a Logitech Driving Force (not pro) and it works great except for one problem. Whenever I get going fast down a straight, the wheel starts rotating left and right really fast, making the car swing left and right really quick and out of control. I'm not sure why this happens, and I do also know that it takes a good deal of strength to keep it from doing that. I searched a bit and didn't find any answers, do you guys have any ideas?

Answer a few questions first
1 What system are you on PS2 or PS3?
2 What do you have your wheel settings at?
Arcade/sim Wheel strenght Mild/strong
3 Power asst on/off?
4 Driving aids on/off?
Check some of these settings for your wheel in the (options) menue

It's not your wheel. It's the car you're driving. Some cars have certain aerodynamics which produce a shaking motion at very high speeds (+200 mph). The Mulsanne Straight at la Sarthe is well noted within this site for producing such an effect. No worries - adjustments to your car's settings such as spring rate, downforce, etc (if in GT Mode) may reduce this "shaking" depending upon the car you are in. Otherwise, hang on!!

Here are the answers to opelgt1969's questions:
1. PS2
2. - 4. I haven't adjusted any of the driving wheel settings, I just plugged it in and started using it, I will try playing with some of the settings and post my results.

No, that's definitely not it because it happens in ALL the cars starting at about 60m.p.h.

Don't let the wheel move your hands. At first you will feel like you will break the wheel if you force it against the motion it's trying to go, but get over that feeling.

My wheel does the same thing, and now I'm used to it. Just hold it still when it shakes.

Also what is your wheel bolted to? Try setting your wheel to:strong force/ power asst off/ simm mode/ there's another setting in the wheel option forget what it is try it off . Turn driving aids off you might keep some "traction control" on till you get use to pedals. Does your wheel have FFB(Force Feedback) if not this can cause the car to move around because the wheel is so sensitive. Then pratice pratice pratice.

Ya it has FFB, and I did everything you recommended and it is still doing it. Hmm, I wonder why it's doing that, and if everyone's is like that. Also, I don't know what the steering type option changes.

Oh, and it's not bolted to anything, I have it attached to it's attachment that allows you to hold it between your legs, but that has nothing to do with it, because I tried it bolted onto the table and it kept happening.

The option is for "power steering" type thing. Are you driving with one hand or both hands. Try one handed as you might be trying to "fight the wheel" not noticing it at all. It might just take you a while to get used to the wheel. What was you driving with before? I've never been able to use a controller driving I'm too old to learn. Try just cruising around to get use to it.

No, I'm already used to it and have been using it ever since I bought GT4 a month after it came out, but this is just a problem I have experienced recently after I started playing the game again after a long time of not playing. I steer with two hands, but I think that's not it because it wiggles left and right when I let go of the wheel too.

Try unpluging everthing on the wheel power cord and pedals you might have a loose connection from your cord that is letting your wheel try to keep calibrating itsself.

Hmm...
If you still want a little help, my best bet on the situation would be the wheel is trying to recenter itself. All you have to do is be a little forceful with it and always make sure you have all of the control. Believe me, it is tough at first, but practice, and it becomes very easy, maybe even second nature.
