- The Netherlands
A few weeks ago I bought a 2008 MX-5 Niseko. The Niseko is a special edition that was available in Germany and the UK. It adds a dark brown cloth top and dark brown leather to the car. Also it includes a different style of 17" rims and some chrome accents on the exterior.
The car is completely stock, except for two (small) things... The car has MazdaSpeed loweing shocks that lower the car about 30mm. Stock NCs have an extremely high ride height, so that's something I wanted to fix immediately. Also, I replaced the stock antenna (~40cm) for a short one (~10cm).
I imported the car from Germany (to the Netherlands). So, I had to do a lot of paperwork to get the license plates. That's not a big deal, but it takes a few weeks to sort everything out... So, I had to wait a few weeks before I could drive in my car.
A few days ago the wait was over and everything was sorted! My dad and I drove to a parking lot (my dad behind the wheel), because I have only driven the car of my parents during the two years I have my drivers license and that car is an automatic...
After a few tries I had a feel of the clutch again (as I learned in my driving lessons). So, nothing could stop me now and I drove away with a big smile. I just can't describe how happy and proud I felt... Like a child (maybe I still am at 19 years old).
Now I have driven the car for the past few days a lot and mostly with the top down. It's just so nice! The car feels so nice to drive and the gearbox feels so direct. Also people look at the car, because it's for some reason pretty rare in the Netherlands. I am the only one in "my" city that has one as far as I know.
The first time on a nice twisty road was also amazing... No other cars, top down, sun was shining and a big smile!
Every time I step out of the car I have a smile on my face and look back at my car when I walk away. To me it's perfect... I love the black paint with the very dark brown soft top and leather interior. I also love the wheels and the MazdaSpeed springs make the car sit as it should have been from the factory. It doesn't look lowered, but it just has the right ride height. Also a little thing like the Stubby antenna looks nice and better than the stock one. As you notice, I love my car!
Here are a few pics that I took with my phone when I had to wait for my license plates. The stock antenna is still on the car, but the springs are fitted on these pictures.
Sorry for the long story, but I hope you can enjoy it. I just wanted to share my happiness.
