My First Drift Video

well.... there really is not a lot of drifting to be seen here. The MR2 was just burning it's tires coming off of turns as far as I could tell.

The AE86 had an okayish drift on HSR around 2:24 of the video. And there was a decent high-speed drift at 2:00. But everthing else was very short lived and had no flow. I can't figure out if you're trying to speed drift or exhibition drift because you're showing one on one corner and following that up with something completely different on the next. Pick a style and stick to it.

If you were going for exhibition drifts, you really need to work on the basic techniques much more and realize that weight transfer is your friend. After you can effectively generate slip, work on tracing out a smooth drift line for the full duration of a corner. Go out-in-out. Many of your drifts start wide and finish tight, or you work from the middle of the track and get off in the grass, etc.

Now, if speed drifting is more your thing (I really cannot tell). you've got some work to do on getting the car to slingshot out of the corners. If you let the car bog down and burn tire as you seem to do coming off of corners then you've lost all the speed that you've carried through the drift. Once again, you really need to focus on taking a proper racing line. Speed drifting will only be quick when you can flow one corner into the next by choosing a clean line and when you're making fast exits. The drift at 3:00 on Midfield is a great example of the kind of line you do not want to take. Much to wide, and the entry is too late (true whether you were trying for exhibition or speed).

For a first video the editting wasn't too bad, I suppose. Although... I don't understand the significance of the quick flash of 'Corolla AE86 Levin - Apricot Hill' (or whatever it says) that comes on screen at 3:38. It would be more viewer friendly if you'd fade music and clips out gradually
- ie. The transition from MR2 to AE86 clips. Don't do a hard cut there, fade the music and clip out progressively. The same could go for the end of the vid.

Anyways, looking forward to seeing more. Really work on cleaning up those lines though.

That was a experimental drift video,i need to get the video editing in my head. The flash of corolla was an accident that i realized when i finished the editing:crazy: !About the drift style, some clips were the trying of a speed drift and some on trying on showoff drift.I have some better clips on ps2,but the problem is,i cant drift offten, that`s my friends PS2.I`m gonna practice even harder, and this video was my 2 day expirience.

No reason to make excuses or cover yourself. EVERYONE was a beginner at some point so don't worry about it. ;)

I would fallow what BL said on this one and go back at it! :)

Well said, BL...

Keep up the practice, read the stickies, check out the settings depot, and ask questions... That's how you become a great drifter...
