Hi all,

I thought I would share some pictures of my wheel and pedal stand that I made. As I have to use the longe for gaming I needed something that could be packed away when not in use and came up with this.

The whole assy folds down for easy storage and I have built in a little adjustment here and there.

My only problem now is I am rubbish with the wheel and have gone back to the controller!!

That looks great, i could do with something similar myself. I don't have anywhere where i could have a permanent set-up so something that would fold up behind a sofa would be perfect. You should market it!

Everyone is rubbish at a wheel if they have used a controller for a long time in the game. It is worth sticking with the wheel.

I am slower with a wheel as well in GT but I just don't care. Once I started using a wheel for racing games like Gran Turismo, GTR2, GT Legends, TOCA etc I could never go back to a pad.

Looks like a good sturdy setup that is conveniently tucked away when not in use.
Stick with the wheel, you will get better at it. There is nothing like the feel the wheel gives you playing GT5P. With two pedals for the brake and accelerator its easier to do both at the same time, try that with the controller, I could never do it. There is so much info through the wheels force feedback. I know many people still use the controllers and do well, but its much more fun and immersing with the wheel.
With the pro physics there is no way I could drive competitively without the wheel. As it is, I can barely make a full lap with 700 -750 pro physics, unless 4WD, you have to be very careful with all aspects of driving pro physics. Anyone driving pro with a controller is a very good driver in my book. And there are many.

I gave the wheel one last chance and did a full evenings online racing with it.

With controller on beginners level I win high speed ring most races in the Honda Accord(regardless of who's trying to knock me off the track!)

So I went to pro level with the wheel and stuck with the High speed ring I know so well. After a bit of tuning (really struggling in this area) I managed a couple of race wins. My lap times were really consistent and I thouroughly enjoyed the simulation feeeling you can't get with a controller.

So onto Suzuka PP600 Pro. Man that's a tough track. I couldn't do a lap without either spinning or getting pushed into the kitty litter. Matters did improved a little when I put some traction control on. I think the car needs more tuning work as I couln't hold as much speed around the corners as my competitors.

But faster or slower I think I'll stick with the wheel now.

Now then - where's that tuning guide.

I have now made a new bracket to angle the pedals further.
Also I've replaced some of the bolts with thumbscrews to speed up assy.

Anyone got any suggestions for any other improvements that could be made?

When I've finished tinkering I might even paint it!

Do you intend on always using it on a carpeted surface?

If so you could mount it on spikes to grip into the carpet better.
