My game froze after Nur 24hr A-spec

Just after A-Specing the Nurburgring 24hr race, I exited the racing times/laps statistics-table menu and got the loading screen with the white spinning speedo. I'm feeling awesome after 24 hours of racing but this loading is taking a while. After two minutes it still is loading so I turned off my PS2 and went to beat my dog in my rage.

Why did it not load? I would have understood if I got a DRE red speedo, but it stayed white the whole time. My PS2 was also not very hot and has worked fine for a year. However, I have experienced this problem once before, but I can't remember which race it was after. I need to know what caused this problem so that I can avoid it next time. I would appreciate any assistance.

I would hate to be you right now.

Unfortunately Gt4 doesn't work very well with some versions of the Ps2.

Animal cruelty because of a videogame. You're a sick man. 👎

GTPlanet Acceptable Use Policy
You will not use these forums to violate any laws nor to discuss illegal activities.

Beating animals is illegal. Don't discuss it here.
Better still don't do it at all, then you won't have to worry about wanting to discuss it. ;)

(For a refresher click this link.)

On an on-topic related note, nobody seems to know when or why this dreaded freezing glitch occurs, it just does.
I've only had it happen once in over 4 years of playing GT4, at the end of Infineon World Sport Car Race, the first time I ran the race.

I feel your pain, especially after 24hrs A-spec, having run 7 x 24hr races in all A-spec myself I couldn't help but feel nervous approaching the end of each in case this dreaded disk freeze occurred. Nothing fixes it, I tried cleaning the disk, but no difference.
Sadly you'll have to suck it up and start again.
What were you racing?
We can offer many tips here to make this a great exciting race, and if you're interested in A-spec points, how to make a 200 point race of it.

I'm not sure that I've ever had the "endlessly spinning white wheel" glitch, but in addition to one standard DRE ("endlessly spinning red wheel"), I've twice had the screen stay completely black after exiting a race, whereas it would normally display the usual white loading wheel after a second or two. I really can't say why GT4 communicates a read error in three different ways. I feel very sorry for you if you drove all 24 hours yourself only to encounter this problem, but you still have the satisfaction of knowing that you won a 24 hour race on your own even if the game doesn't recognize that you have done so.

I didn't actually beat my dog silly - if I even tried to fight my doberman Zachary it would have teared me apart. It was an attempt at humor, sorry for any confusion :guilty:

So this is a rare and mysterious error I take it. Either way, I have now completed the race in B-spec with a black mazda 787b (I originally A-speced it with a nissan 350Z JGTC). I wouldn't normally b-spec, but as Austin343 says, I know that I completed the race like a human being in A-spec mode so at the end of the day I have my F1 car and the satisfaction of completing one of the more demanding races in GT4.

Thanks for the replies.

Congrats on getting your F1 car! Like it has been said, the game may say you did it in B-Spec, but you have the satisfaction of doing it in A-Spec :)

There's only one advntage to B-Spec - you can finish races quicker.

After two minutes it still is loading so I turned off my PS2

That's a mistake. I've had lots of problems with Red Wheel of Death (what does DRE stand for?) and it can rectify the problem, sometimes, after hours of spinning. You should have given it at least 20-30 min, then you can 'beat your dog' (I assume that's a euphemism?) even more enthusiastically.

My game has the red wheel syndrome too, but it only happens when I try to enter a race at New York, and then not always. Just as PF says, it's best to be patient and eventually it will figure things out.

I've had problems like that.

Odd as it sounds, don't turn it off, or wait... Open the disc drive, take out and clean the disc, reinsert it and see if it picks up and loads.

I have two copies of GT4, both so worn out that they sometimes fail to load, or just keep loading. I've just switched to my other disc, while it's red watched, the watch would turn white, load up and I'd be on my way.

Sorry you shut it off...

Wow... I feel pretty bad for you. I haven't really attempted the 24 hour races myself... I'm still waiting for damage, day/night cycle and changeable weather... Might be waiting a long time.

And if it's not too much, mid race saving would be great. I'd also want realistic tyre wear rather than the hyper speed tyre wear in gt4. 24 hour race wouldn't be much fun if you had to pit every few laps.

Anyway, sorry for going off topic... Unlucky. Better luck next time? Just out of interest... How much of a lead did you have? Going from the enduros I completed in gt3 and 4, I always had a rediculous lead... Something like 25 laps, and that was the shorter races... Can't imagine how much of a lead I'd have after 24 hours.

It could be an overheating problem, right?

Once i had the "red wheel of death", but it worked once i left the disc cover open for like a minute or so.

Also, I can't enter any races with my 350Z roadster. Anyone know why?
