My Honest Feedback & Opinion - GT 7

Good day my friends. So i would like to give my honest opinion and feedback on GT 7.

First, some background on myself:

-I initially started playing GT series from the beginning, around 2000 - 2002. I enjoyed GT2 very much.
-I then got PS2 and started GT4 sometime in 2005 if i can recall. I played GT4 all the way to somewhere 2010 - 2011 if i recall
-During this time, i skipped GT5, Prologue, and GT6 altogether. I just didn't really have the time
-However, i completed GT4 thrice, before officially retiring and selling it off. It was the best game for me

Current Situation
-I finally bought GTS last year, and have been playing with it for almost a year.
-Coming from a classic GT player, i'm not a fan of the camera, picture stuff, and livery stuff. For me, I just want to race. Period.
-As you can imagine, GTS was a shock for me. I then came back to this forum, and was guided by some very kind posters about what GTS is about which is more for online content.
-However, i played, and patiently waited for GT7. I didn't play any online mode

GT7
-I pre-ordered GT7, and was very happy when my disc was delivered. I followed up with the marketing contents, every on you youtube and even on this forum.
-The impression was, this was going to be the best game. Probably ever.
-Imagine my disgust when i started playing the game
-As i mentioned, I have no time for all the pictures, and modifications. I just want to race, and was shocked at the limited amount of content.
-Heck, this is pure BS for me. I felt betrayed. I mean, racing just 2 - 3 laps from the cafe?
-What nonsense is this...

Conclusion
-I felt like this was the biggest BS from PD
-It's the the Nissan Nismo GTR Le Mans project where the marketing team really outsold itself, and for a crap product at the end
-Granted, PD will definitely update and put in more content, but my question is, why even launch such a basic game?
-This is like going back 3 steps. The cars feels a bit weird, and the credit payout is utter BS
-This makes me feel and think the GT4 was definitely the best ever, and an iconic game. The number of endurance races, circuits, and events was unopposed.
-To me, it felt like Kaz took everyone for granted, and thinks we are all small kids.

These days, it's a burden for me to even load the game. I'm at the BMW M gathering, and it's just a shame. This whole thing feels like how GT1 is supposed to be. AN introduction to GT. For me there's massive lack of content, its hugely disappointing after all the marketing campaigns

This is just my two cents, and do stay safe everyone.

Agree with all your points. It's a shame that this had to happen, just hope we get a glut of events very quickly with a major change to the economy to reduce the grind.
Being drip fed events at this point could possibly mean the game won't be able to recover long time.

You know you can do custom races right?
Do you mean the ones that pay out a quarter the value they did in GTS? Meaning that you are going to access the content in the game far, far, far slower than is reasonable.

PD created a title that is supposed to be about car collecting, as such the onus is on them (and certain for a £60/£70 AAA product) to provide a curated range of events, completion of which should provide the player with the means to collect close to all of the cars in the game. PD already knows this is how game design works because they do just that with the tracks, completion of the last Cafe Menu opens up the last track for you. Once that tutorial is done, the game should have enough events and championships to do the same for the cars.

If PD wants us to rely on Custom Races and create our own events (we can't create championship - because reasons) then GT 7 would be a sandbox game, and that would mean all content unlocked from the outset. That's not what PD has sold, however, so the onus is on them to deliver a complete title at launch, which also means not trying to fob people off with 'more stuff to do will come, not telling you what or when, but it will'.

Surely you can see that a game needs work? The driving is not bad, but everything around it is soo...... bland.
The driving is immense! The full package needs major work yes, but I just don't care about any of that when we have a driving experience like this! Right now I am in love with the Audi Quattro. A beast and a beauty. Entering corners backwards on DT gardens, Ken Block style, it's sick AF. I can't get enough :)

Feels a bit like a RPG with a 20hr main quest and millions of side quests ;) or call of duty but you buy that knowing its a short campaign and you get you're money worth playing online but i don't think people buying GT7 are thinking like that.

If the online would be great(aka GT Sport level) and prize money acceptable, I'd have everything I need really.

Me too m8 i'll be online mostly hosting short fun races or i would have been if the options would have been included :( i bought the game @ full price to play now not 6 months times when i could get it 1/2 price.

What's wrong with sport mode this week, out of curiosity?
I'm not bashing their race selection. But the online lobbies:
  • You can't change lobby settings after a race. So no changing tracks, numbers of laps, PP, nothing.
  • The racing is laggy
  • I've had my setups whiped after joining a lobby

I feel like Im still missing things but thats what I can think of right now.

Ah I see, yea. It's pretty strange why those basic features aren't there. One of the reasons I've tried avoided online lobbies so far. I've been enjoying the daily races though.

Sure but those are also lackng compared to sport.
The lag logically carried over, you can't see DR/SR gained or lost after race, can't see fastest lap times per driver and Ive read( but not experienced to be honest) people getting stuck once the race is over.
