A nice way to introduce yourself to the forums, and welcome to :gtplanet:. 👍

There is one thing we'd like you to work on though, there's barely (if any) a sentence in your report beginning in a capital letter. 👎

You're required by the Acceptable Use Policy of this site to use:

from AUP
No slang words that promote laziness, ie; “r”, “u”, “plz”, etc. will be tolerated. Decent grammar is expected, including proper usage of capital letters. Repeated violations will be grounds for suspension and/or permanent removal from the forums. All messages must be posted in English.

Each time you use "I" to refer to yourself it should also be capitalised, and it's clear from the fact that you've capitalised names such as "Fanatec" and "Logitec" and products like "G27" & "GT5p" that you're able to understand the need for their use.

Please post with this in mind in future and have fun settling in.

wow, seems a little strict. it's a forum not english class. i don't see how my laziness to not capitalize certain letters takes away from anything.

They're the site owner's rules and have been in place for as long as the forum has.

It's a large International forum with many non-native English speakers who make the effort to learn and post in our language and anything we can do to help them understand more clearly is a good thing.
It's very difficult to understand some other fora when everyone posts like unintelligible "txt" slanging monkeys, and this site isn't headed that way.

You don't really get a choice in the matter, you agreed to abide by what's contained in the AUP when you registered, and you're clearly capable of using capitals where appropriate.
If you can't post as requested, after this friendly warning, then you should expect more contact through private (though more serious) channels...
...or you can chose not to post at all, although given the useful start you've made with this thread we don't wish for that to be the case.

I see your point, and I will try. I just think of forums as a relaxing, easy going way to find and share valuable info. These couple posts i copied and pasted from various other forums i posted this info on. From now on with my new posts i will follow your rule.

Anyway, I figured since this wheel is new and i didn't see much info on it here I would share. I am excited for GT5, and I just actually grabbed a copy of GT4 and have been playing it on my PS2 with this G27. I'm not a life long GT fan, but so far I am liking it a lot especially playing it with a nice wheel.

I have found that if you download the (spell-check) it helps with the big "I's" along with my bad typing.

Nice comparison. Though you forgot to compare the shifters :)

both wheels have good shifters. the Fanatec shifter is very tight and very clicky. the G27 shifer i'd still like to see a little firmer but it's fine how it is. both have good shifters IMO. not really a deciding factor for me and shouldn't be for anybody else.

New turbo s fanatec has a drift mode if someone is wondering drifting with that brand after this thread.

I've been using my g27 for 2 weeks now, and I have noticed something odd with my shifter.
Perhaps it's a setting or an update, but recently, the problem I'm having with the shifter is this:
When in clutch mode, Lets say I'm at the top of first gear and I decide to red line the gas and drop the shifter it into 2nd, The shifter will fall into place correctly, but in the game, it will not go into 2nd ever. Inappropriately, it goes into neutral.
The only way I can smoothly shift up is by letting the RPM's drop below 5k, then proceed to shift up. This happens with all the gears.
When I put the wheel in regular shift mode, I can red line the gas and shift into the next gear.
I haven't put a beating on this wheel kit, so I am still searching for answers.

Currently, I am using the manual settings, putting the wheel in "clutch" mode, and using professional physics.
The wheel is on simulation with 7 force feedback and no power assist.

holy crap the admins/mods here and madly insane and grammar nazis. Way to turn people off your message board.

Nice post OP. I'm still not sure how the wheel size compares to the Fanatec exactly.

What? Does that make sense to you? Do you mean, "are madly insane"?

And if you don't like it, there's a log out link on the top right, with a big X just slightly further up. 💡

Any ideas, guys?

Way to turn people off your message board.

Frankly it's great that way, it keeps the majority of discussions intelligent and mature without degrading into the childish, sweary slanging matches that are pervasive throughout many poorly moderated chat boards and comments sections. You only have to look at YouTube, 4Chan or any of the chatrooms on Ustream or JustinTV for evidence of the "internet moron" epidemic that's sweeping the web.

We're well aware that these people are out there, and frankly if they're coming on this site they're following our rules. Remember the registration process? It makes you agree to the AUP when you register, which in itself discusses the rules you should abide by and the penalties for doing it.
How ironic it is that a lot of times that persistent rule breakers are warned for bad behaviour and yet apparently it's only ever the fault of the staff for enforcing the rules, rather than their fault for committing the offense in the first place.

Feel free to post however you'd like anywhere else on the net.
While you're here, you're here at Jordan's discretion, and will post according to his wishes, and comply with the requests from the staff members he's appointed to help out as he's unable to single-handedly follow over 3 million posts, several 100,000 threads and 1000s of active members.

As daan suggested, if you can't handle / don't like / don't want to deal with it, then by all means go ahead and leave, we're not keeping anyone hostage here. ;)

Since I am within the 30 days, I took the unit back to best buy and exchanged for a new one.
I will be testing it tomorrow, seeing as that I'm supposed to be at work at 5:30 AM, and it is almost 9:00pm.
Hopefully, It was the unit and not the game settings.

bwahah, yes I did. Spell check isn't powerful enough for my fast moving (not thinking) mind. I've been doing that a lot lately where I'm thinking one word and typing a nutter...(ok i did that one on purpose)

Today, I tested the g27 kit and found that I am still experiencing this problem.
The game will not allow me to red line holding the clutch, then dump into the next gear.
Does anyone know why this is happening?

If you mean flat-shift (no throttle lift, hold throttle flat while shifting) then GT5P removed that capability a last year.

if you shift into second gear like you are trying to chirp the tires it always turns into a mis-shift for me. it was this way with both my Fanatec wheel and now my G27. seems normal for the game. i REALLY wish we could just use the paddles. it's extremely hard to be competative when we are missing gears.

Yeah it's pretty easy to miss gears especially in the longer races, and yet some people call the clutch in GT5P a cheater device.

jasonb 1985 --are you the guy who was maybe looking for a copy of F1CE for ps3? I think it came up on another thread I was reading. If you are then let me know.. I rescued a used copy from Gamestop for a five bucks and would send it to you for same + shipping.
F1CE is good but the combination of the G25 and Dirt2 is all I'm going to need for quite a while.
Anyway nice review.

BTW: I have a Thomas Super Wheel for the pc, and their website also sells a variety of potentiometers (pots) for their wheels. My point being that pots wear out (!) and you rarely if ever hear anyone with a G25 talking about pot replacement. Just a thought for y'all. My G25 will last for years and years and years, but those pots? ..not so much.

Funny, I just got into gt5p 2 weeks ago, so I had the chance of playing it without that programming code.
I guess last week when I installed the upgrade, I lost this feature.
Mainly, I needed it for drifting.
So it's considered cheating in normal racing?

Actually I discovered you can still flatshift.... but below 20km/h....which allows you to slap the next gear when doing burnouts :P

Some people have called just using the clutch as cheating (even while lifting throttle during the shift).

I was told flatshifting was a capability removed from the game for the GT Academy competition because those who owned a G25 could Flatshift and gain 0.5 sec on any opponent who didn't own a G25, therefore enabling people to virtually buy themselves success in the competition.

Seems like a poor descision by PD to me after all the world of motorsport is dominated by people who have bought their way to success rather than rely on pure talent to get what they want and the cost a of G25 seems like pretty small potatos to me for the opportunity to get a race drive compared to the ammount people invest in any other form of motorsport.

Surely those who could not afford a PS3 were at the same disadvantage as those who couldn't afford a G25.

Anyway Rant over LOL I didn't enter the competition so don't really care that much, other than it's taken the realism away from what could have been a very realistic feature.

I say they should allow flat shifting.
Maybe in career mode, it can cause engine malfunction.
