Hi everybody, i'm having a few problems with my mozilla firefox right now...Something happened a few days ago which i cannot explain. I mean i don't know if its just me but i can't see my own custom avatar! (or anyone elses for that matter) But somehow i still could see the normal GTP avatar which most new members use.Check this out....

I just don't know why it happens only to my firefox as i had no problems with this on my Opera (yes,i like Opera so much more than Mozilla. Give me less problem :D but don't ask me why i don't use Opera....)

Another thing is that i can't watch videos straight from my youtube (but i can watch the embedded ones on GTP no problem) and i think it has to do with my JavaScript. I don't know really know if my java is actually working or not....cause when i went to the java website to do a verification,it says that my java is a valid copy (or something like that) but when my firefox do a software update,it cannot detect my java! (again,it seems that only my firefox had this problem, my Oprea ran smoothly. My IE is just plain busted! :yuck:)

So can anybody help me out here? :nervous:

Well is anybody going to help me out here? :indiff: I just miss how my Mozilla Firefox used to run... and running GTP on my Opera is just no the same (i cannot open a new tab until i open a new empty tab and copy the url and paste it there. Now that you metion it, my Opera does have a problem :()

Well if noone help then its just fine! I could always chuck my PC out a window and buy a new one  or i could always cut my wrist and hang myself with a rope from my balcony :grumpy:

Hello fellow Firefox user.

Hmm. Mine runs okay. I have seen what you are seeing before, but only when gtplanet is playing up or the 'net is extremely busy.

Try selectively disabling some of your Firefox extensions - I suspect something like Adblock. What version of Firefox are you using?

That happened to me a few times already, but usually when I reloaded the page the avatars would appear normally.

Just for that, I'm not helping.
Well sorry for being an a** but i was just really desperate :nervous: so i apologize and im sorry.

Well yeah, i think so too. I just uninstall an add-on recently and suddenly this happens.(don't know if this contributes to this or not...) But i'm not sure how the extension is so i have to check that out. I'm using the latest firefox (2.0.0.6) Tried to reinstall it but to no avail. Well thanks a lot for moving this thread and its an honor to have people like you helping me out :D

Well i tried reloading many time but still it won't appear. Its just the custom avatars that doesn't appear. The default ones appears no problem....but thanks for noticing.

Interesting... If you disable all of your extensions and restart Firefox, I would be very surprised if the issue was still happening! Just to clarify, this occurs on every single page that you try to visit? Have you tried clearing the browser cache and then reloading the page? One very interesting thing that I noticed from your screenshot, was that a handful of images around the site (Report, Quote buttons, etc.) - not just avatars - were also missing. Let's do a quick little test. Click here and tell me what you see? This is a direct link to my own custom avatar image, and if you can't access it we might get a more detailed error message about the problem.

Well, after i disable my extensions,i'm still having that problem and yes it happens on every page that i visit!

I think there is no problem with the report and quote button (maybe the page didn't load properly...) but the custom avatar still doesn't appear.

About your avatar, i click on the link and the picture still doesn't appear. The only thing it says were "The image “https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/image.php?u=658&dateline=1136676435” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors." but thats not the only thing that doesn't appear....I'll post some more screenshots later to give you a better idea whats going on....

Edit: Well here are some more screenshots:

As you can see here, the normal avatars appear but the custom one didn't

I also did notice this one yesterday, as you can see the image verification didn't appear as well.

Well i hope this helps to solve my problem. If not than i may have to mess with my win32 file or my mozilla folder to get this thing working again!

Once you disabled all your extensions, you did close and then restart Firefox, didn't you? Just making sure...

Well, now that I know the Report and Edit icons are always visible (and your first screenshot was just a random issue), and you can't see the image verification, that narrows it down pretty well. Two more questions: first, were you logged in when you were asked to enter the verification image when you searched? And, second, can you see the random car pictures at the top right hand of each page? If not, tell me what you see when you click here.

Yeah i did. Still happens

1.Well yes but at that time i just wanted to do a quick search before i go off to sleep. Then i came across that the image verification didn't appear. And no, i didn't have to enter the image verification when i logged in.
2.Well what do you mean? Is it the ads on the right at the first few posts? Well that appears. But i don't understand the car pictures thing....i did click on the link you gave me but nothing appears. Just the error thing.....

Well i'm glad that you are willing to help me out here and i appreciate it a lot. But i just don't know if its just my firefox that is giving a problem or my computer. Somehow my internet is giving many problems (Ie,Firefox and Opera) but i can't blame my poor internet connection because my friend is using the same internet provider and his computer never gave him a problem.....

2. He means the different cars that appear on the GTPlanet banners on the top of the page. But if you're using GTP Lite there's no cars in it, just the GTP logo with a blank background.

Oh i see, you mean like the one at the main page is it? Well since was using the GTP Lite i guess i didn't know about it :dunce: but i think that still appears....

Well, if you can't view different car pictures when you view the link I provided above, that confirms my suspicions. For some reason or another, you can't view dynamically created images. They are different from normal images in that they are not called directly by their file name (i.e. photo.jpg or file.gif), but are instead referenced on the page via a PHP file which returns the image data. This should not be a problem for any modern browser, and I'm afraid I can't help you identify what might have caused this issue in your Firefox installation. Perhaps it is some obscure setting in your configuration? Nearly half of our visitors use the Firefox web browser (myself included), and I have never seen or heard of such an issue. If you reinstall Firefox with a fresh "profile" and default settings and still experience the problem, I am afraid I am unable to help you troubleshoot the issue further. :indiff:

I better just give up on my Mozilla Firefox....it has given me problems since i can remember. I just tried about everything and try to search many answers to my questions on the internet, tried to reinstall and delete some unnecessary files and i just ended up making it worse :guilty: Oh why is it so difficult to get this thing to work!? Well anyways thanks Jordan for all your help, even though it doesn't help solve my problem. But as long as my PC has an internet and i get to surf the web, it good enough for me :)

Is your security level high? Cancel that, I though it was like IE T_T. I'm going to mess around with my Firefox to help

Woohoo!!!!!! I got my Firefox to run as normal!!!! Yeeeeeaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!  :) :D

Well thanks for everyone for helping out (especially Jordan ) even though none of you even solve my problem. But its okay now, i'm sorry if i upset anyone or anything.....i'm just glad i get to see my avie again....

This is how i did it:

When i on my computer today and go to GTPlanet as usual, i just saw the photo mode competiton forum (PMC forum) and like i just remembered that i had to submit a photo for the tourney. So i like played my GT4 for awhile, get my shots and tried to upload it onto my computer to edit the shot on Photoshop. Then when i tried to enter Photoshop, they said like "your username is unidentified,bla,bla,bla,etc,etc,etc....." so i just knew that my ps was corrupted!

So i like tried to uninstall it and reinstall it again. After a few tries (like when i was installing it, it always got stuck half way through the installation. Then i realize i got a smudge on my CD! :banghead:) Before i was installing it for the last time i did try to close all of my application and did a disc defragmenter to clean up some of my file. The installation runs smoothly and when i open my Firefox again and enter GTPlanet and here i am.

Weird huh? Considering all the trouble i had. But the thing is, how was my PS related to my Firefox problem. Thats one weird fix up.....

Sounds to me like your file associations got messed up - specifically .jpg files had become associated with some other program instead of photoshop. This could have caused your computer to think of 'photo' images as text documents, music files or something else instead of rendering them as images, thus them not showing up in firefox, and issues with opening photoshop.
