This is my first bike, I was just wondering if i made a good choice...

I was just wondering if i could have some feedback from people that know stuff about bikes!! Thanks!!

From what i know, I think I have made the right descion... It may not be as good as a CBR, but it is also a thousand dollars cheaper... Besides, I feel with bikes such as the the R1, and the R6, Yamaha can't be that bad at making bikes...

Besides, look at how mean it looks!!! Gotta love the blue too  :D

It is a pretty good bike. But, next summer when I go to buy a new bike I am going to look at a Kawasaki Ninja ZX7R or a Suzuki TL1000R! But, Yamaha in my opinion is a good name.:)

Definitely a good choice for a first bike...;)

My first bike will probably be a 929RR or Hayabusa 1300...

I'll probably kill myself the first week I own it, but at least I'll have a helluva lotta fun for a week...:D

I really like motorcyles, but have learnt to appreciate them from an engineering point of view. This is because:
- I've seen how Sydney drivers treat any vehicle on two wheels (I ride a bicycle) and;
- if I bought a motorbike, it would have to be a quick one, and I'd be dead or in jail within a week.

There is also another factor.

I have already had the lecture from my partner this year about bodyboarding in big conditions.

I hate to think what her response would be if I came home with a motorbike. I suspect it would be violent.

:shakehead

You dont need anything like a Ninja ZX11, you'd kill yourself! ?I was talking to a guy that drove one, and he said they are so powerful, everytime he'd raise the throttle a little to quick hed be doing a wheelie.

Yup, nice choice.
As a sport bike enthusiast for the last 20 years, the Yamaha is unequalled in performance in comparison to the Honda, Kawi, and Suzuki.
According to the latest Sport Rider magazine, the Yamaha has been leading the crowd in the 600, 700, 750, and 1000 cc division for power, brakes and streetability.
Fine choice man.
Im almost at the point of getting too old to get the cbr929 or the R1. Ive been wanting a sport bike since I was 20 years old and my first bike was the Kawasaki Kz400. :embarrassed:
If I wouldnt have had to buy the z24 car I now have, Id be riding my dream bike right now, but thats the way it goes. :(
Learn your bike slowly and subscribe to magazines like Sport Rider, Sport Bike and many others for their information on upgrades, tips for driving etc. They are very helpful. You may even want to invest in some kind of riding school to learn your bike and learn the proper techniques in handling a sport bike.
One day, I WILL own one, old or not. Have fun.

Thanks a lot misnblu, you make me feel that much more confident about my buy...

I do plan on attending a class. If not for anything else, it lowers my insurance. Thanks for the advice man!!
:D

Hey, how much are you paying for insurance a year on your bike? You should definitely attend a driving course though like someone said above! They are very informative!;)

If you do choose any magazine (which I highly recommend, if you dont already), get the Sport Rider magazine. By far its the best unbiased mag out there and they not only know their bikes, but actually race for real. ;)
Ive been a subscriber from them for almost two years now and am getting to know more about them for my purchase in a few years. :D
There are tech articles about your bike for performance upgrades with real world testing of the product, with dyno results.
There are even articles on how to ride better, faster, smoother and safer which Im keeping a file on. Great mag.
Just wanted to relay the info man.
Oh, and check out this thread, youll get a kick out of it since its in your ballpark. Later.

nothing wrong with huffy... I owned lots of those, and beat the crap outta them too... From jumping into lakes, throwing it off a swing set, jumping ramps, and fliping it, I loved my huffy's...

Although I don't plan on doing that with my yamaha, I have more respect now that i am older!!!

Excellent choice for a new bike Magic, we've talked about it before!! What interests me is how you can have a 600cc bike as your first bike. In a lot of countries your are limited to a 250cc for the first two years and then you can have any size you want. Does that not apply in the US?? I guess not.

there is no limit for my first bike... its just like buying your first car. You can have anything you want as long as you have the money...

I went with a 600cc, cause all my friends told me its a good bike to start out on. besides it will have enough power to move me, i am sure!!
