My new setup

New to the forums here, looked at a few of the setups on here and decided to build my own. Got my driving force pro wheel a few weeks ago to replace the crappy "Mad Catz" wheel I had for my Xbox that I was using on my PS2 with an adapter.... that wheel is a joke compared to the DFP :)

Anyways, I got a cheap welder a few weeks ago so thought this would be a perfect project. Its just conduit (which I never knew was so cheap! It was $2.30 for a 10 foot section!!!)

I measured locations of my steering wheel, seat, and pedals in my real car (Subaru WRX) and built the frame so that it replicates that very closely, I also have an extra set of WRX seats sitting in my shop, so I used the drivers seat from that pair, and the DFP wheel is surprising similar to the MOMO wheel in my car!!!

My buddy testing it out...

I still need to paint it, and mount the pedals better, but so far its AWESOME. Takes GT4 to a whole new level!!! :)

I'm also taking an old playstation controller apart to make a functional e-brake, and then I'll move on to a better shifter too.

Now just get a small table and set the Madcatz next to you and you now have a external shifter for GT4, GT3, Enthusia, TXR: Drift, NFS HP2, NFS U, NFS U2 and a few other games. Set your E-brake as up ****f (shift+) on your DFP in the games that let you. Extremely realistic and fun. And you can use the MC2 gas pedal as a functional clutch in Enthusia.

Here's a pic of my DFP + MC2 Setup.

I'll have to get some updated pictures. Since its just conduit, it had a little bit of flex both side-to-side and fore/aft. So I welded on some additional diagonal stiffener braces, and it totally stiffened the whole thing up. Then I painted the whole thing black, and it looks SO nice now!

The seat is out of an 2003 WRX. I have an 2002 WRX, but have these seats to go in my Dune Buggy, but for now the drivers seat is used for GT4! :)

Haven't had time to make the e-brake yet, but will soon enough. After that a friend with some electronics expertise is going to help me make a functional shifter (6-speed actual H pattern). Basically going to involve a PIC chip. Will be tricky, but he assures me its doable! :D

Looks like nice work. I wish I had a big enough garage to have space for a little welder. They are massively useful things.
