My perceived fatalism of GT7, where nothing seems to matter too much - at least not just yet.

Let me begin with saying that I have a lot of hope that GT7 will blossom into something a lot more interesting over its life - and sooner than later, too. That said, I'm going to be as concise as possible.

So the game wants me to drive for slightly under 27km per day to win a ticket. As of recently, I've yet to see any more one or two-star tickets, but I'm finding it rare to win anything genuinely interesting, whether it's a car, a part (special or not), or an engine swap. Even with all the parts/engine tickets that've been rewards for various Bonus/Extra menus, you might not get the particular part/engine you want. But that's OK, because even if, in the rare case, there's a Sport Mode event that allows you to tune your car, you may not even need that special part to reach a certain power/weight/PP regulation, anyway, with very few exceptions. (I definitely recall there being a Daily Race A at Watkins Glen, where I saw some Deltas and Mini Coopers that were engine-swapped, so that was neat.) As far as I know, special parts offer just a little more of a power boost/weight reduction for certain cars. And those Ultra-High RPM turbos? Those are likely gonna be best for ovals, if anywhere.

Moving on, you might do Daily Race B/C to build SR/DR, so that when you enter a championship, you'll likely earn more points for the same position. Except unlike GT Sport, you seemingly cannot view records of your championship results, including stat breakdowns like laps led, average positions gained, and so on. So even if you're the best among say, the GT2-class players in Connecticut - not that you get anything for it - you can't prove it to anyone else after the fact. Similarly, you don't win anything for other championships unless you're in the top three, as we can see with the USA-based Porsche championship. That's nuts, especially since we can win a notable sum of credits from the online time trials, which definitely don't require you to be the absolute best of the best. I don't need a cash prize for that aforementioned goal of being the best GT2 driver in CT - I'd be perfectly fine with something like a ton of credits, a parts/engine ticket, or at least win a lot more credits for Sport Mode races in general. (But especially for championship races.) But all this being said, even winning a ton of credits won't mean much, because it's rare that many cars will be eligible for an event of some sort, let alone tuning the heck out of it. Might as well rent in most cases.

This is where I'm actually hoping selling cars will be a bit more nuanced. I mentioned in some other threads that there could be an advantage to using your own cars for online events, versus renting all the time. You see, I was thinking that you could sell a car, but its price could profoundly increase in value from stuff like how many times it had a top 5 finish, or which sorts of medals it won within online time trials - let alone stuff like victories and pole positions. Ideally, the price of a car would also account for parts installed, too, though I think the priority should be placed on those other stats. Then, you could potentially sell it in Legendary Cars; there'd be a new collection for cars formerly owned by players, in addition to the Hagerty Collection. But there could be a catch, too - it must have at least one of those accolades. That said, these cars driven by players could even come with the livery (and aero parts) that the player may've originally installed themselves, rather than simply coming in a stock spec.

Alternatively, cars that do not have these accolades could also be sold to other players, but at their base price, even if they'd had parts installed. They could even depreciate with mileage, too.

Anyway, I think I've digressed a bit. But I think my point still stands, in that I think the gameplay loop for GT7 - or at least some of its features, such as Sport Mode - needs some improvement.

Supposedly Rennsport, if it doesn't turn out to be vapourware, will employ something like what you suggest. But they will likely be using real money and some have speculated it will involve NFTs. But they said that NFTs won't be involved.
 
I think I screen shot, in one of the rally game threads, showing the prices of used cars with mileage, damage, parts, wins, etc. It varied car by car.
I've got one of the 365GTB4's with 10(?) kms on the clock. I've only added performance parts to that. Could be a find if I sell as is with that low mileage. The other one I have came with high miles. I use it regularly. So, it has a couple thousand kms.

If the sell options works as some of us are thinking, it'd be a good feature with these extras.
 
It's a very interesting idea of tying winnings to how much a car is worth. That would mean you could drive one under-powered car a lot and sell it for almost double, then upgrade
