Hi folks.
In the introduction thread I mentioned that I built my own Racing Rig and that I wanted to share it to give and maybe get a few ideas on how to improve it.
When I built it (about a year ago) I didn't have the PS Eye in mind (which I got a week ago).
Now I'm thinking on how to implement it without destroying the sight of the rig.

Well, here's the rig anyways:

Features in the detail-pictures shown above are: adjustable inclination for the steering wheel and the pedals

Here you can see my preferred car maker, or better the badge, and the nice beerholder. actually you can see a few toes as well ^^

Last but not least, the light features: I built in 4 neon tubes, which are noise sensitive as well, so it gets brighter when you rev the (virtual) engine or you're manhandling the pedals :sly:

I built it out of squarepipes which I welded together to a frame and metal sheets, which I screwed to the frame. and to finish it off, I gave it to a painter for a powedercoating-finish to make it more resistant to fluids (sweat, beer...) as well as make it nice to look at.
The seat is a 70's racing seat from Scheelmann, which is quite comfortable, when playing FIFA with friends they mostly want to sit in the rig because its just so comfy...I took that always for a compliment :)

Greets, major.

Good Point! At what distance should the PS Eye be placed if you have a Racing Cockpit, and at what height? Should it be placed on top of the wheel or in any other place?

Thanks

Hehe, actually it's for the only drunk driving I support ;)
Makes a 🤬 of a lot fun to race next to each other (got the DFP as well) and having the beer at you disposal at the same place...just grab it without looking and without knocking it over.

and its a W4500, not a Z

@SchuMito

I saw a support for the Eye that I didn't think of...I prefer welded and screwed joints, but the cam has to be detachable.
So: in another thread I saw a velcro solution, that could be it for me as well, just glue that to the top of the G25 and to the bottom of the Eye and that should be it.

Well, are you planning to do just that or did I inspire you to a different idea?
If so, let me know.
Like I wrote in the original post I'm interested in new ideas as well, I not sure if this is the best solution...

And: you're welcome ;)

The Beer holder was the best accessory I added to my cockpit! Very nice setup you have there.

@ mad major.

Right now my mind is doing doughnuts at 350kmph! I'm planning my cockpit build but I'm still questioning my design and how should I do it. I bought a seat, and the rest of the cockpit will definitely be built out of wood. I will mount dismount the pedals from their casing (G25) and install them turned down most probably. I'm still undecided on the general design of the cockpit. Now I've remembered of the PS Eye, for which I would need a place to install it on, so I taught of building a small bridge on the steering casing (of wood) and install it over the steering, as long as it does not come in the middle of the TV.

Does anyone know if I install a G25, PS Eye and a USB Headset into a USB hub, and attach the USB hub to the PS3, would the Hub be able to carry all that load of information? I want to do this so to diminish the number of wires possible. Thanks
