While on the topic of cars, you should be extremely creative and add certain very rare vehicles. Like the Lamborghini Diablo SV-R and the Jaguar XK180. About to try this now, looks promising

Hello Jai !
At first, we are going to add the vehicles that we love ourself
Then, the next step will be to make a poll with cars that you guys would like to add.
So, you could ask for any cars you want basically.

One thing I would request is the option of traction control. I find it hard to drive with the keyboard.
I will think about it. :)
First step will be to add AT transmission though..

Do you still need some data/models from rFactor?
I think, not at the moment, but if the project get better and better, it could be good to have help from rFactor data models.

I can't resist to the temptation and show you a screenshot of some new shaders i have been working on !

New Carpaint shader + new Glass shader !

capturedcran20120814223.png

It still need some tweak but its just really better than before!
This screen also show one of the cars that will be available in the build 3.

Skyline GT-R 34 V-spec II

Build 3 is coming soon!
I count on you guys to test it and give feedback on it !
Actually thanks to you guys i have corrected a lot of issues !

See you very soon !

Hi everyone !
It was very long but the new build is finally here !

"Version 0.3, Build 03" !!!
http://www.redline-e.com/download/

It is an enormous build with a lot of new features! (enormous by the number of working time...)

Here is the list of the corrected issues and new features.

- Accel + Brake in Neutral doesn't make the car run anymore.
- You can now rev engine while having the Handbrake in neutral.
- Engine seems to brake properly now.
- Some less important issues fixed.
- Tires have a little bit more grip than before.
- Grass slip factor have been reduced (No more "on ice" feel).
- Login Interface added.
- Garage Interface added.
- Nissan Skyline GT-R 34 added.
- Toyota Supra RZ added.
- Introduction before starting game added.
- Turbo BOV sounds added. (Turbo cars only of course!).
- New experimental Car paint shader.
- New experimental Glass shader.
- Possibility to Record your time and bestlap in the database. (Registered users only).
- Ingame Pause Menu (Resume / Restart / Quit)

That is all!
So, basically the biggest features is the possibility to have some more interactivity with members and build a more interesting community.

Due to the very big amount of work and no beta testers available, it is very possible that the game is buggy.
Also, the website is new, so the registration process may also have some issues.
Very sorry for that.

Please feel free to tell me any issue you had.

Enjoy !

Can i try this out please?

Download link is in the OP, dude.

Love the new features jujunosuke, though took me a while to realise that you can't use the mouse in the garage screen, you have to use the arrow keys or pad to cycle through the cars.

The Skyline is great fun, handles way better than the Ferrari which still seems to behave a little oddly to me, like if you let the revs go too high in say 3rd or 4th, then change up, the revs hardly seem to drop, change up again and they still hardly drop and I seem to lose control, as if the wheels are spinning?

But this doesn't happen with the Skyline or Supra, which feel much more solid and controllable.

Only issue I have now is that I have a 4:3 monitor and it seems to only run in a 4:3 window which I can't stretch or resize, and it ends up cutting the edges of the display off, as if it wants to display in widescreen. Even if I lower the resolution, it just plays in a smaller window and still slices the sides off (I can only see a little of the Redline logo and key icon in the garage screen, for example, and the times in the game are cut off too)

Get it here !

@Tyger
hum, thats strange.
I think i didn't choose the good resolution..
I think it is suitable for 16:9 now, that may explain why the screen is cut on the side.

I will make a new build to correct this fast.

But even with the cut screen, you should be able to play.

The first screen should be the login screen.
If you have a username and password, enter them, if you don't, click on Play now button.

Then on the garage screen, you can choose a car with arrow keys, and then select a car with spacebar.

Tell me if it help.

No trouble at all! You are giving us a free game to play :)

Ran the new build at 1200 x 800 which worked just fine. I'm still not very good at it but it is fun. I need to try it with my DS3 though, do you know if it supports analog steering if the controller is fully calibrated in Windows?

I have a standard generic ps3 type controller and the analog steering is working just fine.
But it is pretty much experimental at the moment.
I find it quite difficult to play with it.

I probably need to fine tune the settings.

Please try it with your DS3 controller and give me feedback if you can !

@gogatrs
Hello !

Actually, i just need to have one myself to test and support it...
But i have zero money right now, and will be minus 5000 euros soon...

What exactly is the process...
Is it something I'd be able to handle with my G27?

I think the process would be tedious enough to make it complicated..
But if you really have time, we can try together.
I would need you to test some bunch of demos i'll send to you, and you would give me your report about the output variables you see on screen.

By the way, is there any wheels that are reachable at 40$ ?
I don't need force feedback.
I don't need pedals.

Worth a shot if you can give me descriptive step by step instructions. If it's not time effective, don't bother though.
I have two weeks left until I go back to school so I have some time. :sly:

Just downloaded this and its really good, only played with my keyboard so far so its difficult to correct oversteer without it shooting the other way.

Really good project and i'm really looking forward to see how it goes, good luck to you.

@lbsf1 hey ! thanks for your comment !
I am glad that you like it !

@theotherspongey
Everything has been done with the last version of Blender.

Looking better and better with each update! Do you have any plans for a menu interface?

Probably, the car selection screen will change a bit, and will be more standard style.
Also, we may add a racetrack selection screen also.

In the next demo, we are working on adding 2 or 3 new racetrack for the game.
And maybe few more cars also.

I am also working on adding a color selection for each cars.
BTW, i have a question about this.

Do you prefer a Gran Turismo style, with only few colors but something that is real life inspired or something like Forza with a very large color palette ?

Both have pros and cons.

If color are predefined, its is possible to adjust the shader better to make it more realistic. But the color palette will be reduced.

If colors can be selected dynamically via a large color palette, you will have more color choice and tone choice, but the visual result may be strange for some colors.

As you can guess, some metalic blue require more reflection than some other colors etc...
That is why pre made colors will look better because they can be adjusted case by case.

I don't know if you understand what i mean.
lol...

I really like your car selection screen now gt5 could do with something like that showing the cars in a garage love it!!!!!

I just played the 4th build and it looks amazing! Keep up the good work! As for the color palette thingy, I suggest sticking with the colors that the car comes with in real life.

On the colour topic, less could equal more.

By having less, you could focus on the few you have to make it look much better. :)

Alright, got the message.
At first i thought that people would prefer to have a bigger color range.

Also, we are working on adding 3 new racing tracks for the game.

You may not like our decision but, all tracks in the game will be original racing tracks.
We are not going to use real world existing racing track.

First, for copyright reason,
secondly, we are a very small team that is doing this project on our free time, and the chances that we could recreate a replica of an existing racing track with proper feeling are very poor.

Also i think its a good opportunity for us to let play our creativity and make original racetracks.

We will post some screenshots of the world in progress!

What do you mean exactly ?
I was mainly referring to a menu interface when pressing ESC while playing. Something simple, such as ''restart'' and ''back to garage'' as choices to begin with.

LackOf, actually there is one menu already.
During the game, press P to pause the game and show of the menu.
Then you can restart, resume or quit and go to garage.
