My sim racing rig

After hanging around on this forum and looked what great rigs you guys have built and are racing in, I wanted to contribute with my creation.

Thank you all for the inspiration!

It's made out of wood and an old car seat. Very sturdy! You can adjust the seat back and forth.

An old amplifier is connected to two Sinus Live Basspumps. The amplifier is connected to the 5.1 system via the subwoofer cabel. One is fasten under the seat...

...and the other is fasten on the back.

In order to reduce the vibrations to the floor is the seat attached with four engine bearer.

Four small wheels also makes it easier to move it.

As requested I have added a couple of pictures.

The framework is made of 95x45 mm crossbars. The rig is 130 cm long and 46 cm wide.

The construction for the wheel is made of 120x25 mm planks.

The crossbars and planks are joined together with screws. You can also use glue together with the screws, that makes it even more steady. All screw holes were pre-drilled to prevent the goods to crack.

Clamps are very useful when you adjust the angle for the wheel construction.

Nic job! I bet it is more than OK for over an hour run without pains or tireness.

Thank you! An hour in the seat is no problem. You can adjust the seat in many ways to make it comfy. It even has an airbag in the backrest that you can fill up or empty to support your curve of the back. 👍

Only car manufacturer I know of that does the airbag lumbar support is BMW, but it doesn't look like it's a BMW seat... Didn't you have to connect a 12v power supply to power the little air pump? or how does that one work?

No 12v power supply is needed - just reach out and grab this one and regulate the pressure in the bag.

Lol, what the...?? Honestly I don't think that seat actually comes from a car, possibly maybe from a construction machine like an Excavator which is constantly moving back and forth so the driver needs big side bolsters to keep him from flying out... good find though, looks nice and comfortable

I'm very pleased! :)

You can adjust the length of the seat by pulling out an extension and also adjust the width of supporting pads on the sides of the backrest. That comes in handy when the g-forces shoves you. :)

Wow, seen quite a few pics and vids of home mades, but something about this one really stands out, looks real comfy, like I could spend hours in it. I would be extremely proud to call that mine.

Thank you for the kind words heingericke!

Actually it's more comfortable than the seat in my real car. I have a Subaru Legacy and they have little to short seats to make longer trips convenient.

I think you've done a great job. Similar to the one on inside sim racing that they made their self's . But far better! I also love your Isolation and the wheels!

Very nice setup, seat looks super comfy, really like the way you did the pedals box, and the portability.
You obviously put a lot of thought into making it. Hats off 👍 👍!!!

very nice, its kind of similar to how mine is set up...wood construction, seat adjustable, casters to move it around.

Thank you!

Actually it's quite simple to build a rig out of wood. I didn't use any plan, I had the seat, the wheel and the pedal set and from that I measured where I wanted to put the seat, wheel+pedals. And when it went wrong I disassemled the peices and tried another way! :)

Here is my setup! I hope to build an actual cockpit shell out of MDF once I get the finances in order.

Well tidy rig you got there Rosen. Is that a t500 wheel? Heres a couple of pics of mine. I got subs at the front and under my seat aswell, and speakers built into the front and rear. The seat is from a Lotus Evora. Have a nice Holiday mate, The Sunday Cup will miss you.

Thanks Ade! Yes, it's a t500. I'm very satisfied with it! I had the Driving Force GT before and the t500 has more ffb but the main difference is the pedals.

I have glanced at the th8 for a while but I'm not so sure. It will most certian make me a slower driver (if possible:) ) Now I use the paddles.

Is that a shifter on the left side? Or handbrake?

Its a home made shifter that connects to the gear stick on my DFGT with 5mm steel wire running though a flexible tube. It works very well, and can also be sed as a handbrake if I map the buttons on my wheel.
