My SR got demoted from A to E for this?!!

So I made the mistake of doing the Gr.3 race in Sport Mode under the assumption that people took those just as seriously as the one make and Gr.4 races.

I was WRONG.

I don't know how or why, but for some reason it mixed in a bunch of E-C SR drivers with A SR drivers, the race was just so unbelievably dirty (surprise surprise they were in Beetles) I had no other option but to either intentionally pootle around at the back salvaging SR points or quitting.

I elected the former, I deliberately stayed clear of the idiots in positions 5-10 who were doing their best replications of the GT5 shuffle-races, however the problem arised that they were: 1) slowing each other down through their stupidity, and 2) taking penalties in a manner to deliberately hinder or ram those getting passed them in the process.

It go to a point where I thought "screw this" after several instances of being rammed by slowing Beetles taking penalties in the run to Decido De Lago and just decided to take the DNF and quit. I had throughout the race luckily not been getting the orange SR point warning and was racking up green plus points.

Then it happened, for some reason, in doing the smart thing and leaving a race that was way too dirty, GT Sport decides to drop my A SR all the down to E?!!

Sorry but this is a nonsense, are they seriously knocking people down all the way to E just for leaving races that are too dirty?!!

If so, there needs to be some sort of allowance for leaving races that are too dirty.

I think we've all known for weeks that quitting is possibly the most harmful thing you can do to your SR.

Also that the fastest cars are the idiot magnets, because when you give an idiot a selection of cars in a racing game they'll go for the fastest.

I had no idea, I think I'll stay well away from Gr.3 from now on.

FYI Careful with the DR as well when backin out or finishing last, especially if poled in the top 3. My DR went from a B to a D, in a clean race that I poled 2nd in, but finished last trying to preserve my SR.

I feel ur pain I lost ppl pass then done one clips me I get penalty dropped from b to d then worked back up to c now e. ****ing b.s. if I ever saw it

It’s completely stupid that SR goes down when you quit but did not hit anyone in the race. I can see your DR going down, that’s fine, but quitting is NOT unsafe.

Sorry for the bad grammer, and the use of inappropriate words and abbreviations. I guess I'll go on the track let everyone pass me in the first few seconds the merge onto the circuit and have it that way. Wait where's the fun in racing then. Ill have a good rating then I'll be with the real racers. That's the only way around it.

Barely anyone takes the SR seriously and it's certainly not an indicator of what you can expect from other drivers. Add in that you can race against people with a lower or higher SR but similar DR, the bag can really get mixed up.

To be honest, I really don't see the point of building either rank unless it's for entering a particular lobby race. It works well for those as the host is usually looking for a specific group who'll behave relative to their ranking. Nothing like the quick match from hell daily races where track position means a lot more than how you got it.

I was pinning my hopes on the SR (coming from quick matches) for some clean racing and found nothing like it. Met a few like minded people along the way, but for the most part, it's been much dirtier.

I tried exactly this. Went from B to D??!! :( Pretty harsh.

They did it again the guy that pit maneuvered me and the others guy that ran me off got penalized but I caught the bad end of the deal

If you don’t learn how to drive in traffic and drive at race pace, your situational awareness will never improve and you will never be able to maintain SR-S.

A critical part of driving at high SR is to be able to drive at race pace while not putting your car in dangerous situations. Also never quit a race re: SR drop.

EDIT: I highly recommend the YouTube series called iRacing: Surviving Rookies. Everything in that video applies in GT Sport and has helped some in this forum immensely.

I've learnt how to drive partly from a few of my friends (as I've mentioned in other threads) who are known sportscar drivers, they've taught me how to negotiate traffic whilst fighting for positions, obviously I'm no where near as good as they are (I'm inferior to them in every way!) but I am no idiot when it comes to traffic.
