My system specs look like this:

Asus A7N8X-X
AMD AthlonXP 2500+ @ 2.31Ghz
512mb DDR400 ram
Samsung 80gig hdd
ATi Radeon 9800 Pro
Combo drive 48/24/48/16 CD-RW/DVD

My 3DMark score is 17261.

As you can probably guess, I am very proud :D.

What did that cost you all up? Have you experienced any problems, overheating?

I presume your rather satisfied now that you can watch movies on your computer.

You know what happened to your 486 processor is that same fate going to occur on your 2mb Savage? Or are you to sell it?

Estimate the total cost please of the rig - and yes Klos, Cobraboy is living in a 3rd world suburb, like me and we do sort of experience these lapses in technology sometimes, sometimes.

Mines better than yours, 500mhz Intel Pentium III, beat that Celeron boy + a bonus 128mb = 256mb RAM.

Your stripes aren't as cool as mine, your exclame! is the reason for stripes, you inspired me - Your special.

God, the ideas will recycle over and over, oh well its good for the environment, can't complain.

Now, Cobraboy, thought of upgrading that 14inch yet?

Ah, I love rehashing the same things over and over again. I'm good at that. Or terrible depending on how you look at it.

Now, Boombexus, thought of upgrading that 8 incher yet?

Erm,

Motherboard: $150
CPU: $210
RAM: $110
HDD: $110
Vid Card: $525
Case: $60
CPU Cooler: $60

So about NZ$1225 thats just the important stuff, not including all the flashy bits and my case fans, which would've set me back about $200.

My monitor is 14" and is very ****ty, my penis on the other hand, is very large.

Nice, but 14" makes the rest of it somewhat pointless. I mean, you've got a monster graphics card, and you're running it at what, 800x600? Hold me back!!!

And I reckon 1GB RAM is pretty much essential these days.

Nice system there Cobra!

Although, it pales in comparision between it and my computer...

We're talking GF2 baby!

I'll have you know my 384 does me just fine. There is still like 100MB left with PS7, Imageready, and Powerpoint open. That's activily switching between them too!

That's nice for you. I'm web developing at the moment, and I have the following apps open:
Dreamweaver MX
Fireworks MX
Paint Shop Pro 7
Internet Explorer x4
Opera 7.1
Mozilla Firebird 0.7

I'm running Win 2000 Pro, and Task Manager reports 520,156K in use. If I wanted to use some spare processor time and i/o capacity by scanning negatives at the same time, that would add another 330,000K to the usage total. This system regularly goes over 1GB allocated memory. I only wish the motherboard didn't limit me to 512MB.

I'm running 2000 Pro also.

The whole 384 is enough thing was a joke, although I really did have 100 free. I agree to the extent that 512 is a minumum these day's. I'd have 512 if only my video card was nicer and my case was nicer. Believe you me, if you saw the thing you'd freak out. It's hideous. It haunts small childrens dreams...for many years...

I'll eventually get me 2 gigs of RAM, that'll come when I get a real job, though.

1024 x 768 @ 32bpp @ 70hz anything high then that and it throws a hissy fit, I'm not too sure if it's 14" or 15" but it's ****ing useless either way. I wouldn't mind a gig of ram, it's only another 512mb chip away :mischievous: but it isn't really needed at the moment.

Nice setup, Cobraboy. Although I'm completely confused on how you got a score of 17 thousand in 3DMark. What version of it did you use?

I used 3DMark2001SE, you used 3DMark2003 which is a completely different benchmark and it uses a smaller number.

Right on man, I LOVE that card. Treat it well, and it will treat you well.

May I ask what your 3DMark score is? Surely that poor cpu of yours will give you a score in the 1000's, possibly in the 2000's :P
